The PowerBoat Guide had this say:
The Viking 44 Motor Yacht replaced the 43 Double Cabin model in the Viking fleet in 1982. Designed for fast and comfortable cruising-and showing the sleek, low-profile styling characteristics of the Viking 46 Convertible-the 44 Motor Yacht is slightly larger inside than the 43 Double Cabin and carries more fuel and water. While the floor-plans are similar, the 44 has a larger main salon with the forward companionway offset to starboard. The interior-considered quite elegant by 1980s standards-is an attractive blend of natural teak woodwork, designer fabrics and plush furnishings. Topside, there's plenty of space on the full-width aft deck for entertaining, and the fly-bridge is arranged with guest seating forward of the helm console. (Note that the bridge profile was updated in 1989.) Additional features include a wide side decks, an optional hardtop and arch, and steel engine mounts-a Viking trademark.
