The USCG Utility Boat, or UTB, was a standard utility boat used by the United States Coast Guard for a variety of inshore missions. The 41 ft (12 m) UTB was designed to operate under moderate weather and sea conditions where its speed and maneuverability made it an ideal platform.
The boats were welded 5086 aluminum, most of them had a molded fiberglass superstructure. But 41109 has a aluminum superstructure. Also, the twin Cummins diesel engines with conventional shafts and propellers were replaced by Volvo-Penta  Model D9A-425 HP engines. This UTB can be used for commercial and private uses. (towing operations, offshore/Inshore fishing boat,express cruiser, and great loop vessel) These vessels were constructed at the Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, Maryland, from the 1970's to 1980's.
