PINTAIL features a well-designed arrangement plan. Crew quarters are located forward and include two separate sleeping cabins, a head with a separate stall shower, and a U-shaped settee. A full-beam galley with laundry facilities is located aft, with access to the engine room and companionway to the dining saloon.

A white wicker table and chairs serve as the centerpiece of the forward salon, surrounded by forward- and side-facing windows and generous aft storage. The wheelhouse is located further aft, followed by the salon, which opens to the aft deck through French doors.

Hull and Deck Equipment

PINTAIL was originally built with cedar inner planking and mahogany outer planking. She was completely re-planked in 1998 and is now double-planked in mahogany throughout. She has 2 ¼” oak frames on 12” centers, with 2 ½” oak floor timbers. The stem, keel, and horn are also oak. She features four main longitudinals that serve as engine beds and support the engine’s weight. The house tops and side decks are fiberglassed.

In 2022, the starboard side deck was rebuilt, including removal of the cutwater and replacement of the underlying structure. The brass plate was re-bedded, six frames and twenty planks were replaced, and the shaft logs were rebuilt.  In 2023, an additional eight planks were replaced around the port strut, two floors were replaced in the aft cabin, and the entire aft cockpit deck and structure were rebuilt.
