Tracker V-19 WT: BoatTEST Review

Reviewed by Jeff Hammond

Overview

The Tracker Targa V19 Walkthrough is a special anniversary edition boat launched to commemorate Tracker's 40th anniversary. This model integrates several upgraded features including a pair of Lowrance Elite 7 fish finders, an 80-pound thrust MotorGuide trolling motor with foot control storage under the bow hatch, and enhanced trailer components. Designed with both fishing and family comfort in mind, the boat offers a versatile layout and modern technology integration.

Exterior Design and Deck Layout

The Targa V19 features a spacious bow area with a 10-inch wide cap rail equipped with a non-skid surface, flip-up cleats, and a VersaTrack accessory channel. Storage is abundant, with four compartments in the bow deck, cargo netting, and dedicated tackle box storage near both consoles. The walkthrough design includes rod storage optimized for spinning rods extending forward eight feet. The reinforced, lockable cover is designed to support walking. The cockpit contains four pedestal seats, three of which are movable to the two casting decks, all with high wrap-around backs on pinchless hinges that swivel and fold. The helm seat slides fore and aft for ergonomic adjustment. The port console offers lockable glove storage, accessory plugs, and additional storage with an angled footrest, drink holder, and speaker. The cap rail widens to 13 inches in the cockpit area, maintaining flip-up cleats and non-skid padding, with padded bolsters and 26-inch high sides for safety. The aft casting deck is elevated 15 inches and includes a 48-gallon livewell with dividers and aeration, featuring a removable bait bucket. Battery storage and engine maintenance access are well organized on the starboard and port sides. The boat also includes a receptacle for a ski tow pylon and push-button courtesy lighting throughout, emphasizing family-friendly entertainment.

Interior Features and Ergonomics

The boat’s seating system is highly adaptable, with pedestal bases that accommodate three removable seats which can be positioned in six different locations. Cushioned seat bases and pads convert into comfortable seat backs, enhancing family comfort. The helm area is designed for simplicity and functionality, with grouped rocker switches, a dedicated cell phone holder, and a stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity. The hydraulic C-Star steering is mounted on a tilt base, and the horn button is conveniently separated for easy access. The test captain noted that while the seat was positioned close to the wheel for shorter legs, the center rod locker provided a comfortable brace, though seat controls might be better placed on the sides for improved ergonomics.

Power and Performance

Powered by a Mercury 225 Pro XS engine paired with a 19-pitch Tempest Plus propeller, the Targa V19 demonstrated impressive performance metrics. The boat measures 19 feet 10 inches in length overall with an 8-foot 6-inch beam and an empty weight of 4,019 pounds. With three-quarters fuel and two people aboard, the test weight was approximately 4,651 pounds. The top speed reached 53.5 miles per hour at 5,600 RPM. Best cruise speed was 25 miles per hour at 3,000 RPM, achieving a fuel burn of 5.1 gallons per hour and an efficiency of 5 miles per gallon, resulting in a range of 209 statute miles while maintaining a 10% fuel reserve from the 47-gallon tank. Acceleration was swift, with planing achieved in 2.6 seconds, 20 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds, and 30 miles per hour in 8.2 seconds. The Deep V hull provided smooth transitions, clean re-entries, and a dry ride with no pounding, supporting sporty handling suitable for fishing as well as recreational activities like skiing and tubing.

Conclusion

The Tracker Targa V19 Walkthrough combines excellent handling, thoughtful comfort features, and family-oriented entertainment options in a well-designed fishing boat. Its performance on the water is both sporty and smooth, making it versatile for various recreational uses. The integration of modern electronics and ample storage solutions further enhance its appeal. Overall, it stands as a well-rounded vessel that meets the needs of anglers and families alike.
