Overview
The Tracker ProGuide V16 is a deep V single console boat designed specifically for northern climates, durability, and fishing. Tracker aimed to create a vessel that meets anglers' needs while also being easy to tow, launch, and store. The boat measures 16 feet in length with a beam of 88 inches and a bottom width of 70 inches. It has a 20-degree dead rise hull, similar to high-end bow riders, and a package weight of approximately 1,942 pounds including the engine. The fuel capacity is 15 US gallons.
Exterior Design and Fishing Features
At the bow, the V16 features a carpeted trawling motor deck pre-wired for the included Minn Kota 42-pound thrust power drive motor, complete with a drink holder. Just behind this is an elevated casting deck with ample storage, including a compartment with tackle drawers secured by a carpeted aluminum hatch with a full-length piano hinge. Additional gear storage compartments flank the pedestal base. The boat incorporates the VersaTrack system, allowing customizable placement of accessories such as drink holders around the perimeter. The helm console is molded fiberglass with a tinted windscreen that effectively redirects wind over the captain's head. The instrument panel is uncluttered, featuring three backlit gauges and toggle switches positioned to the right. A Lowrance X-50 fish finder is mounted on a swivel, providing surface temperature readouts and adjustable positioning to accommodate captains of varying heights.
Power and Performance
The V16 is offered with Mercury four-stroke outboards in 25, 50, or 60 horsepower options. The test boat was equipped with a 60 horsepower Mercury EFI outboard. Performance testing revealed a top speed of 30.1 miles per hour at 5,500 rpm, with a fuel consumption of 4.5 gallons per hour, resulting in an average range of 91 statute miles. Cruising at 3,500 rpm yielded a speed of 15.7 miles per hour and a fuel burn of 1.8 gallons per hour, extending the range to 117 statute miles. The boat achieved a time to plane of 4.5 seconds and accelerated from 0 to 30 miles per hour in 8.1 seconds. The hull’s deep V design provided a smooth and responsive ride, with excellent maneuverability even in tight fishing spots and shallow, rocky areas.
Trailer and Storage
The ProGuide V16 package includes a color-matched single axle trailer with a swing-away tongue, facilitating easy storage in most garages.
