Overview
The Tierra Yachts 43LS is a versatile and thoughtfully designed vessel that serves as an exceptional entertainment platform. It features multiple social zones, comfortable accommodations for four, and a powerful twin-engine setup. This model emphasizes both luxury and functionality, making it suitable for extended outings and social gatherings on the water.
Exterior Design and Social Zones
Starting at the bow, the 43LS offers three-across seating with flip-down armrests, a flip-up footrest, and wraparound padded bolsters for comfort. Storage compartments are located beneath the side seats, and a high-gloss teak table can be deployed for alfresco dining or cocktail seating. The bow area also includes a Lumar windlass with a through-the-stem anchor roller and polished anchor cleat, all controlled remotely both at the bow and helm. A Mediterranean sunshade can be installed using stanchions stored under the bulwarks, enhancing comfort while maintaining ample space for fenders and lines. Safety is addressed with a 33-inch bulwark height and handrails extending to midship. Boarding is facilitated by an elevated non-skid deck on the port side with convenient grab handles. A standout feature is the full-height, wrap-around, compound-curved windshield integrated with the hardtop, eliminating the need for additional rain protection. The starboard side features a 17-inch-wide side deck leading to a well-equipped outdoor galley area, including a sink, electric grill, trash receptacle, dedicated cover storage, refrigerated drawers configurable as refrigerator or freezer, and additional storage. The helm area is designed as a social zone with four-across seating, flip-up bolsters, and footrests, complemented by climate controls and 24,000 BTU reverse cycle air conditioning that can also provide heat.
Helm and Control Features
The helm is outfitted with two 16-inch Garmin displays integrated with engine data, a glass dash, and a centrally located Fusion stereo system. Air conditioning vents and electrical switches are conveniently arranged, alongside a small cubby for personal items. The helm includes digital throttle and shift controls, joystick piloting and steering, and a tilt-mounted steering wheel that matches the woodwork. Trim tab and bow thruster controls are positioned within easy reach. The glove box houses ignition switches and charging ports. The helm seat is extra wide, electrically adjustable fore and aft, and features a drop-down platform that elevates the captain’s viewpoint by nine inches. Overhead, an opening hatch with skylights, a screen, and blackout shade provide additional comfort and visibility. Vessel view and SeaKeeper gyro stabilizer controls are also accessible from the helm.
Aft Deck and Additional Amenities
The aft deck includes wraparound seating with a high-low pedestal table that converts into a sun pad. The seating arrangement allows full walk-around access and can be rotated to face aft, providing views of the surrounding waters or swimmers off the stern. A seven-foot bench seat with floating beverage holders and storage is positioned forward of this area. Additional comfort features include a drop-down television and an extendable awning. A dive door on the port side doubles as a boarding gate, equipped with a user-friendly latch and an integrated ladder for easy water access. Mechanical components such as dual Glen Denning shore power cord reels, through-hole fittings, water strainers, pumps, an 8KW Fisher Panda generator, and a SeaKeeper 6 gyro stabilizer are housed in a conveniently located mechanical room on the deck.
Interior Living Spaces and Accommodations
Below deck, the 43LS provides sleeping accommodations for four. The forward berth measures 80 by 54 inches with 29 inches of headroom, while the mid-cabin berth measures 80 by 44 inches with 26 inches of headroom. The mid-cabin also features a bench seat and a microwave. Both cabins benefit from 6,000 BTUs of reverse cycle air conditioning and share a wet head. The mid-cabin berth can be converted into additional storage space thanks to a rubberized surface beneath the mattress.
Power and Performance
The 43LS is powered by twin 600-horsepower Mercury V12 outboard engines. Although not personally tested, Tierra Yachts’ design team reports a top speed of 54.2 miles per hour at 6,055 RPM. Cruising speed is approximately 38.3 miles per hour at 4,516 RPM, with a fuel burn of 53.3 gallons per hour, yielding a range of 259 statute miles. At a slightly higher speed of 43.9 miles per hour (4,997 RPM), the range decreases by only six miles, offering an efficient balance of speed and fuel economy. Acceleration from zero to 30 miles per hour is achieved in 10 seconds.
