The Brand NEW 2027 Targa 37Build this boat your way, and have the first one in North America by October 2026!
The Targa 37 has been a beloved boat for nearly 30 years and for the first time Targa is releasing the next generation of the boat. It's taken everything we've loved about the original 1997 model year Targa 37 and updating it with elements to improve accessibility and usability. This hull slot will be built to suit on a first come first serve basis. We know the new model has these key differences compared to the original model:
Key Design & Comfort Enhancements
Aft Cockpit Seating Inspired by the Flagship Targa 46 & 41
The newly designed aft cockpit brings big-boat luxury to a 37-foot platform. Deeper cushions, improved back support, and a more sculpted lounging layout create a noticeably elevated comfort experience, perfect for long passages or relaxing at anchor.
Side Access Doors in the Hull
Twin side boarding doors dramatically improve day-to-day usability. Whether stepping aboard from a floating dock or loading gear, these practical entry points make boarding safer, faster, and more convenient for everyone onboard.
Slightly Increased Beam for Better Ergonomics
A subtle increase in beam provides meaningful gains in interior and exterior ergonomics. The added width improves circulation around the deck, enhances seating proportions, and allows for more intuitive placement of storage and amenities without compromising performance.
Full Aft Galley Behind the Helm
Borrowed from the acclaimed Targa 46 and 41, the fully featured galley is now positioned directly aft of the helm. This thoughtful placement brings a social, functional cooking space into the heart of the boat, with seamless access to both the cockpit and the salon.
Recessed Window Styling Similar to the Targa 41
The refined window recessing gives the profile a more modern, purposeful aesthetic. This subtle evolution enhances both the exterior lines and the sense of shelter inside the cabin.
Hull Portlights for Brighter Midships Cabins
Newly added hull portlights introduce a welcome increase in natural light to the midships sleeping accommodations. The result is a more inviting, open atmosphere and a noticeable improvement in overnight comfort.

Boattest.com Review
Overview
In this detailed comparison, Mike Porter and Ben Knowles from East Coast Yacht Sales explore the key differences between the flybridge and non-flybridge (coop) models of the Target 37. Both configurations offer distinct advantages tailored to different boating preferences and environments, making the choice largely dependent on individual needs and intended use.
Flybridge Model Features
The flybridge model of the Target 37 is particularly suited for warmer climates, providing an elevated helm station that offers excellent visibility and an open-air experience. The helm area includes a Bimini top for shade and features two overhead hatches to enhance ventilation. This upper deck also serves as an additional entertaining space with four extra seats that can be rotated to create a social area forward of the steering station. The flybridge is equipped with two solar panels and ample space on the aft coach roof for additional equipment such as radar, Starlink, or more solar panels. Access to the flybridge is facilitated by molded stairs with a fold-up step, ensuring safe and easy movement even in heavy weather. Driving from the flybridge offers a unique sensation and panoramic views, making it an ideal spot for social gatherings like sunset sails or cocktail cruises.
Non-Flybridge (Coop) Model Features
The non-flybridge or coop version of the Target 37 presents a different aft layout, notably lacking the stairs leading to an upper helm. Instead, it features an additional window aft that increases natural light in the cabin. Access to the hard top is provided by a ladder, which leads to a spacious deck area designed to accommodate bulky water toys such as paddleboards, sea kayaks, or even a small tender. This model maximizes hard top real estate, with configurations including up to six solar panels and a large optional moonroof that can open to enhance cabin brightness. The coop design offers greater flexibility for carrying substantial gear that might not fit on the flybridge model. Additionally, it benefits from a lower air draft and reduced weight aloft, which can be advantageous for navigating under bridges and improving vessel stability.
Air Draft and Weight Considerations
A significant practical difference between the two models lies in their air draft and weight distribution. The flybridge model, with its additional equipment and upper helm, carries extra weight—several hundred pounds higher up—and has a taller profile. The coop model, by contrast, has a lower maximum air draft, which can be further reduced by rotating the arch aft after removing securing screws, minimizing clearance needed to pass under bridges. This feature provides three air draft measurements: maximum with antennas raised, standard with basic equipment, and minimum with the arch folded. These considerations are important for owners who frequently navigate areas with low bridge clearance or who prioritize vessel stability.
Natural Light and Cabin Ambiance
The coop model enhances the interior ambiance through increased natural light, thanks to the additional aft window and the large optional moonroof. This design allows the cabin to feel more connected to the outdoors, creating a bright and airy environment. While the flybridge model also includes overhead hatches for ventilation, the coop’s larger glazed areas contribute to a more open and spacious feel inside the cabin.
Conclusion
Choosing between the flybridge and non-flybridge models of the Target 37 ultimately depends on personal preference and intended use. The flybridge offers an elevated helm with excellent visibility and a vibrant social space ideal for warmer climates and open-air cruising. The coop model provides a lower profile with increased cabin light, greater hard top utility for carrying gear, and advantages in air draft and weight distribution. Both configurations maintain the quality and customization options characteristic of Target yachts, allowing owners to tailor their boats to their specific needs.
