Power and Performance
Our test model was equipped with a Mercury 150 horsepower ELPT four-stroke outboard engine paired with a 14 1/4 by 18 inertia three-blade stainless steel propeller. With an estimated weight of 3,585 pounds including 35 gallons of fuel and test equipment, the boat achieved a top speed of 49.6 miles per hour at 5,800 RPM. Cruising at 3,500 RPM yielded a speed of 27.1 miles per hour while consuming 4.6 gallons per hour, resulting in a fuel efficiency of 5.9 miles per gallon and a range of approximately 214 statute miles with a 10 percent fuel reserve. The 1950’s power glide hull bottom delivers strong acceleration, planing in 3.5 seconds, reaching 20 miles per hour in 5.4 seconds, and 30 miles per hour in 8.2 seconds, with a bow rise of 15 degrees under hard acceleration.
