Sun Tracker Party Barge 20 DLX: BoatTEST Review
Overview
The Sun Tracker Party Barge 20 DLX is designed as an ideal vessel for family and friend gatherings, comfortably accommodating up to 10 passengers. It combines a spacious layout with a manageable size, making it both entertaining and easy to handle. The 2015 model introduces several enhancements aimed at improving comfort, convenience, and style.
Exterior Design and Deck Features
The boat features a full-width, non-skid swim platform that serves as a safe and convenient entry point for water activities. A wider and longer ladder facilitates easier reboarding after swimming. The aft sun pad provides a comfortable space for sunbathing, complemented by new pillow-top upholstery with plush, contoured backs on three couches. The upholstery utilizes multiple foam densities to achieve an optimal balance of comfort and support. The aft L-shaped lounge includes a removable table for games and entertaining, with nearby storage designed to hold a cooler beneath the console. Additionally, a movable upholstered bolster with built-in drink holders can be secured along various seating areas for added convenience.
Helm Station and Entertainment
The helm station has been completely redesigned for 2015, featuring a luxurious captain's chair that adjusts, swivels, and includes folding armrests for enhanced comfort. The console is sleek and modern, with a wraparound sports shroud and integrated footrest to improve the piloting experience. Entertainment options include a versatile Bluetooth-capable stereo system with MP3 and USB ports, allowing passengers to play music from a wide range of sources.
Storage and Practical Amenities
The Party Barge 20 DLX offers ample under-seat storage, including a lockable compartment for valuables and a storage net to keep personal items dry and accessible. A hidden under-seat trash receptacle helps maintain cleanliness on board. Additional amenities include a pop-up changing room and bench located below the aft sun pad, as well as courtesy lighting throughout the boat and within the standard Bimini top. The Bimini top itself is color-coordinated with the boat and features a matching storage boot, making it quick and easy to set up or take down while providing shade during sunny days.
Color Options and Warranty
For 2015, the Party Barge 20 DLX is available in two high-sheen color schemes—charcoal metallic and red—each featuring all-new graphics. The boat is backed by a comprehensive factory warranty, including a 10-year coverage from bow to stern and a lifetime limited structural and deck warranty, underscoring the manufacturer's confidence in its durability and quality.
Conclusion
The Sun Tracker Party Barge 20 DLX offers a well-rounded package for lively social outings on the water, combining spaciousness, comfort, and thoughtful design in a size that remains easy to maneuver and dock. Its upgraded features for 2015 enhance both the onboard experience and practicality, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a versatile pontoon boat for entertaining and relaxation.

Cons
Limited Speed: While the boat is adequate for leisure cruising, it may not reach the same top speeds as smaller, more performance-oriented models, which could be a downside for those seeking high-adrenaline water activities.
Not Ideal for Rough Waters: Due to its pontoon design, it’s best suited for calm lakes and rivers. In rougher waters, the ride may be less comfortable compared to traditional V-hull boats.
Weight Considerations: The spacious design and features contribute to a heavier boat, which can impact towing efficiency and fuel economy. Buyers should assess their vehicle's towing capacity before purchasing.
