The hulls and bridgedeck are molded in one piece - less transoms - as is the deck molding. They are then bonded together to form a monocoque construction with immense inherent strength greatly contributed to by the curved nature of the structure. Constructional stiffness is further increased by a number of bulkheads, including collision bulkheads in the forward sections and keels. The basic lay up uses a combination of chopped strand mat (CSM), rovings and biaxial mat. The lamination starts with a double gel coat followed by a 225g/m2 powder-bound CSM. Next come two layers of 802g/m2 biaxial mat, one overall and the other up to the waterline. Then come the areas of core material - in the hull sides, this is a 12mm PU foam, and in the bridgedeck, scored 15 mm PVC foam, apart from the mast support area where 12mm end-grain balsa is used. Two laminations of 802g/m2 (one to the waterline, the other overall) follow, plus further strengthening around the waterline, mast-bearing areas, forebeam and engine beds. Below the waterline construction is solid. The hulls are laminated in Scott Bade isophthalic resin and vacuum bagging is used in areas where core materials are present.
