2004 Silverton 34 Convertible - Twin Crusader 8.1Ls - Bow & Stern Thrusters - Updated Electronics
This 2004 Silverton 34 Convertible is a well-maintained and extensively updated example of one of Silverton's most successful cruising designs. Powered by twin Crusader 8.1L gasoline inboards producing 375 HP each, she combines 750 total horsepower with a spacious two-stateroom interior, oversized flybridge and the maneuverability of both bow and stern thrusters.
This boat has benefited from considerable recent investment, including a new Raymarine chartplotter, new autopilot controls, new transducer, new compass, new Fusion stereo with JL Audio speakers, new Bimini top, new freshwater washdown system and a new salon air-conditioning unit. A flat-screen television in the salon adds to the onboard entertainment package.
The result is a versatile flybridge cruiser that offers substantially more interior and entertaining space than the 34 Convertible designation might suggest, with accommodations equally suited to family cruising, weekends aboard and entertaining on the water.
TWIN CRUSADER 8.1L POWER
Power is provided by twin Crusader 8.1L gasoline inboards rated at 375 HP each, producing a combined 750 HP.
The current propulsion information shows approximately 475 hours on the port engine and 450 hours on the starboard engine, giving this boat relatively modest engine time for her model year. Direct-drive inboard propulsion provides the traditional running characteristics expected from a convertible cruiser of this size.
The boat has reportedly received regular attention from a professional marine mechanic, with its systems serviced as part of the owner's ongoing maintenance program.
BOW & STERN THRUSTERS
One of the most significant features of this particular Silverton is the combination of bow and stern thrusters.
Having control at both ends of the boat provides an important advantage when maneuvering around docks, slips and other confined spaces, particularly on a flybridge cruiser with a beam approaching 14 feet.
Combined with the twin inboards, the thruster package makes this 34 Convertible particularly well equipped for close-quarters handling.
UPDATED RAYMARINE ELECTRONICS
The flybridge helm has benefited from several recent navigation upgrades, including a new Raymarine chartplotter, new autopilot controls, new transducer and new compass.
Together, these updates modernize the helm and provide the captain with an improved navigation platform without sacrificing the excellent visibility that is one of the defining characteristics of the Silverton 34 Convertible's oversized flybridge.
The flybridge provides generous seating for the captain, companion and guests, making it as useful for entertaining underway as it is for operating the boat.
SPACIOUS TWO-STATEROOM INTERIOR
One of the strongest attributes of the 34 Convertible is the amount of accommodation Silverton incorporated into this platform.
The interior features two separate staterooms, allowing owners and guests to enjoy considerably more privacy than is typical of many cruisers in this size range.
The forward master stateroom features a double berth along with dedicated storage, while the guest stateroom provides additional sleeping accommodations with over/under berths. The salon's convertible seating can provide additional sleeping capacity when needed.
CHERRY-WOOD SALON
The spacious salon is finished with attractive cherry cabinetry and benefits from large windows that bring substantial natural light into the interior.
Comfortable seating provides room to relax or entertain, while a flat-screen television and the upgraded Fusion stereo with JL Audio speakers provide modern entertainment aboard.
A new salon air-conditioning unit is another particularly useful recent upgrade, especially for a South Florida boat.
The combination of interior volume, large windows and residential-style accommodations helps give the 34 Convertible the feel of a substantially larger cruiser.
GALLEY & EXTENDED-STAY COMFORT
The galley is designed to support more than simple day boating, with a full-size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, cooktop, sink, countertop workspace and useful cabinet storage.
With approximately 94 gallons of freshwater capacity, 286 gallons of fuel capacity and a 37-gallon holding tank, the boat was designed with genuine cruising and overnight use in mind.
SPLIT HEAD WITH SEPARATE STALL SHOWER
Silverton made particularly effective use of the available interior space with its distinctive split-head arrangement.
Rather than placing everything into a single compact compartment, the layout separates the head and vanity from the dedicated enclosed shower, providing a more comfortable arrangement for owners and guests spending extended time aboard.
This is one of the features that distinguishes the 34 Convertible from many similarly sized cruisers.
OVERSIZED FLYBRIDGE & COCKPIT
The oversized flybridge provides excellent visibility from the helm along with substantial guest seating.
Molded steps provide convenient access between the cockpit and bridge, while the cockpit offers useful open space for entertaining, relaxing or fishing. The bridge overhang also provides shade over the forward portion of the cockpit.
A new Bimini top adds additional protection at the bridge, while the new freshwater washdown system is a practical improvement for keeping the exterior clean after a day on the water.
PROVEN SILVERTON DESIGN
The 34 Convertible became one of Silverton's best-known models, with more than 1,200 versions of the 34 produced over the years. For the 2004 redesign, Silverton worked with Donald L. Blount & Associates on a modified-V hull incorporating shallow propeller tunnels and reduced shaft angles to improve efficiency while maintaining a relatively shallow draft.
With a beam of approximately 13'10", the 34 Convertible carries substantial interior volume while maintaining a maximum draft of approximately 3'3", a useful combination for cruising Florida and other shallow-water destinations.
