Silverton introduced the 312 Sedan in 1994 as a sporty, budget-priced family cruiser with sterndrive power-unusual in a flybridge boat. (Indeed, sterndrive-powered convertibles from U.S. builders are practically nonexistent.) Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and the rakish lines and low profile of the 312 give her a rather sporty personality. (Interestingly, the flybridge wasn't an add-on, but part of the deck mold, a cost-effective construction technique that also eliminates the possibility of leaks.) Below decks, the 312 sleeps six-no small feat for a 30-footer: two in the forward stateroom, two in a curtained-off open area opposite the head with upper/lower bunks, and two more when the salon dinette is converted into a double berth. A sliding glass door opens to the cockpit where a transom door is standard and a series of molded steps to port lead up to a large flybridge. Fender racks are built into the swim platform, and L-shaped lounge seating on the bridge will seat four.Twin 235hp MerCruisers will cruise the Silverton 312 at 20 knots and reach a top speed of 30+ knots.
