The Sea Ray Sundancer 350 Coupe represents the largest model in Sea Ray's sport cruiser lineup, designed with dual-purpose flexibility for both day boating and overnight cruising. This model distinguishes itself from the standard Sundancer 350 by featuring a fully enclosed helm with a solid windshield and side windows integrated into the hardtop, enhancing protection from the elements and allowing for optional climate control.
Power and Performance
Measuring 37 feet 6 inches in length overall with a beam of 11 feet 4 inches, the Sundancer 350 Coupe carries 214 gallons of fuel in twin saddle tanks. Our test boat, weighing approximately 20,039 pounds with fuel and three passengers aboard, was equipped with optional twin 380 horsepower Mercury 8.2-liter Mag ECTC engines paired with Bravo 3X drives. This configuration achieved a top speed of 36.8 miles per hour at 4750 rpm and an optimal cruising speed of 31 mph at 4000 rpm, where fuel consumption was 40.5 gallons per hour, yielding a range of 147 statute miles while maintaining a 10% fuel reserve. Acceleration to plane occurred in 6.8 seconds, with 20 mph reached in 11.9 seconds and 30 mph in 21.7 seconds. Handling characteristics included a somewhat elevated bow attitude at speed and a higher center of gravity, but the boat demonstrated a dry ride crossing wakes by effectively dispersing spray. Maneuvering was notably precise, especially with the optional bow thruster and Axius joystick propulsion system, which greatly simplified docking and close-quarters handling.
Exterior Design and Deck Features
The Sundancer 350 Coupe’s exterior emphasizes functionality and comfort. The helm station is situated at the forward end of the enclosed cockpit area, featuring a double-wide bench seat with a flip-up bolster and swivel capability to engage with cockpit guests. Visibility is enhanced by a single-piece windshield with pantograph wipers and vent side windows. The cockpit itself offers an L-shaped settee with a high-low pedestal table, available in fiberglass or optional solid wood, complemented by a starboard settee with a built-in refrigerator and an optional flat-screen TV on a swivel mount. Overhead, a powered sunroof measuring five feet wide by nearly three feet fore and aft provides natural light and ventilation, with a positive close to prevent water intrusion. Additional shading is available via an optional motorized retractable awning over the cockpit table. Options include an extended teak swim platform and an electrically actuated swim step. Engine Room and Mechanical Systems
Accessed via an electrically actuated hatch under the aft deck, the engine room houses the twin Mercury 8.2-liter big block engines, the largest available for this model. Maintenance features include starboard-side oil dipsticks, dedicated oil filter drip trays, and front-mounted coolant reservoirs. A clear serpentine belt routing diagram is provided for ease of service. The generator is centrally located forward of the engines, and battery terminals are protected with rubber covers. The installation meets ABYC standards with double hose clamps on exhaust risers and raw water pickups, and the generator’s bronze raw water pickup is properly bonded and secured.
Interior Living Spaces
Below deck, the companionway features four wooden steps with non-skid inserts and offers 6 feet 4 inches of headroom. Owners may select between cherry or pecan wood finishes with matching wood soles. The galley, located to starboard, is equipped with a microwave, induction cooktop, solid surface countertops, and a refrigerator. While the cabin side windows are fixed, optional opening ports can be added for ventilation. Forward and to port, an L-shaped settee surrounds a removable dining table, with storage and a woofer beneath the forward seat. A loveseat with a sliding mechanism converts into additional sleeping bunks, complemented by a privacy curtain for overnight accommodations. The master stateroom forward features an angled berth with overhead storage lockers, a hatch for natural light and ventilation, and a hanging locker that separates it from the port settee, which faces a 32-inch flat-screen TV.
Private Accommodations and Heads
The head compartment is located to port of the accommodations ladder and includes a vacuum-flush toilet, a separate shower stall with a glass door, a vessel sink set in a solid surface countertop, and both a power vent and an opening port for ventilation. The standard layout includes a separate guest cabin aft of the accommodations ladder with twin 6-foot 4-inch bunks that can be combined into a double berth, a small settee, hanging locker, and storage lockers. An alternate layout replaces the twin berths with an L-shaped convertible seating area. Opening ports on both sides provide natural light and fresh air. Overall, the Sundancer 350 Coupe can comfortably sleep up to six guests.
