The SeaRay 290 Sundeck is a spacious bow rider designed with family and guest comfort in mind. Its defining feature is the beam carried far forward to a squared-off bow, which significantly enhances the forward seating area’s roominess. This model emphasizes ample seating, versatile entertainment spaces, and thoughtful amenities, making it well suited for social gatherings and leisurely outings on the water.
Exterior Design and Cockpit Layout
The bow area features wide cushions that are each a seat and a half in width, complemented by well-padded armrests and angled stainless steel rails for improved usability. Recessed speakers are integrated into the bulwarks, and flip-down armrests enhance comfort and convenience. A walkthrough to the cockpit is angled to maximize seating space. The cockpit itself offers abundant seating, including an L-shaped lounge to port and a double-wide seat that works in tandem with the helm seat to starboard. Both helm and observer seats have flip seat backs that fold down to expand the cockpit seating area. At the stern, a four-across sun pad with liftable bottom cushions provides additional comfort, accompanied by drink holders and armrests on both sides. The swim platform extends well beyond the running surface, offering protection for swimmers and is finished with optional C-deck non-skid matting. The headroom inside the compartment measures 4 feet 3 inches, with 2 feet 9 inches of clearance over the seat, and the door design facilitates easy entry and exit.

Storage is abundant throughout the 290 Sundeck. Under-seat compartments are insulated, self-draining, and feature hinged cushions for easy access. Saddle storage adjacent to the helm includes a 12-volt accessory plug and a stereo shelf. Cushions feature multiple tones and textures, enhanced by quilting, bead welting, and custom embroidery. The bulwark upholstery uses SeaRay’s recently introduced Espresso Ultra Vinyl, which combines a soft leather feel with enhanced durability against the elements. Stainless steel drink holders include drain hoses to prevent water accumulation. The head compartment counter is finished with a metal surface that has a distressed look, adding to the refined aesthetic. At the bow, a beveled windshield base with a latching mechanism effectively channels water away from seat backs, preserving comfort and dryness.
Additional Features
The test boat was equipped with a forward-rake tower constructed from powder-coated rails that is collapsible for easier storage. Above the tower, a drum-type bimini provides shade, although the tow point, positioned 6 feet 8 inches above the deck, would benefit from an additional mount below the bimini for easier access.
