Overview
The Sea Ray 400 Sundancer is a thoughtfully designed yacht available in a two-stateroom configuration, with owners having the option to select either a single or twin head layout. This model emphasizes guest engagement and entertainment, combining luxury with functional spaces both inside and out.
Exterior Design and Entertainment Areas
The yacht features an expansive swim platform extending 5 feet 10 inches from the transom, with an optional 3 feet 8 inches extension available. At the transom, an integrated grilling station includes an electric grill set into a Corian countertop with a single basin sink, complemented by convenient storage below. Safety features include a cutoff switch that disables power when the grill lid is closed. Access to the cockpit is via portside stairs leading to an L-shaped seating area wrapping around a pedestal table, with additional seating opposite. Storage compartments beneath the seats accommodate carry-on coolers, and indirect lighting enhances evening entertainment. The cockpit can be enclosed with isinglass for three-season use or protected by an extended overhead. Side decks provide boarding access and lead forward to the bow, where a 5 feet 10 inch sun pad offers a relaxing space with safety rails that double as speaker mounts. The sun pad’s head and knee supports lift for added comfort, and storage beneath supports poles for a bimini. The cockpit doors open wide with a flush threshold, seamlessly connecting the salon and outdoor areas, while an optional screen helps keep insects at bay.
Interior Living Spaces
Inside, the salon boasts 7 feet 4 inches of overhead clearance and is designed to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living through large windows, an opening sunroof, and expansive aft doors. Climate control is provided by a 27,000 BTU reverse cycle system offering both heating and air conditioning. Seating includes an L-shaped lounge to starboard and a sofa opposite to port, comfortably accommodating eight guests, with an option for a pullout bed. Storage is thoughtfully integrated beneath all seating areas. Entertainment is supported by a corner-mounted 32-inch flat screen TV, stereo, and DVD player. The galley is conveniently located on the main deck, facilitating easy service to guests. It features a covered single basin sink recessed into a solid surface countertop, bottle storage, a two-burner stove above a microwave, and a dual-voltage refrigerator. An exhaust vent is positioned near the stove, and an optional sliding window can be added for natural ventilation. Additional storage is available alongside the galley.
Private Accommodations
Below deck, the 400 Sundancer offers two full-beam staterooms with an option for one or two heads. The forward master stateroom provides 6 feet 5 inches of headroom, with 3 feet 9 inches over the island queen berth. Expansive windows run along both sides of the stateroom, complemented by an overhead hatch directly above the berth, allowing natural light and views of the sky. Storage includes compartments beneath the berth and hanging lockers on both sides. The guest stateroom is also full beam, accommodating two guests in separate berths that can slide together to form a single berth. A storage cabinet is located to starboard, which can be replaced by a settee that sleeps a third person. The head features a separate walk-in shower enclosed in a curved acrylic surround, a vacuum flush toilet, mirrored vanity, medicine cabinet, and Sea Ray towels. Flooring throughout is simulated teak tile, contributing to the luxurious ambiance.
Conclusion
Sea Ray has elevated the Sundancer line with the 400 model, combining luxury, comfort, and thoughtful design to create a yacht well-suited for entertaining and extended cruising. The attention to detail in both the interior and exterior spaces, along with flexible accommodation options, positions this yacht as a compelling choice for discerning owners seeking a high level of refinement and functionality.
