The 300 Select EX, is a premium runabout that boasts the perfect blend of muscle and sophistication. The boat comes standard with power-assisted steering and runs on a proven 21-degree hull for big-water acuity. Twin FWC 350 Magnum Bravo 1 (300PHP), offering enhanced maneuverability and truly sizzling speeds. Starting with the helm, the 300 Select EX is stacked with fine features. The sleek dash incorporates a standard chart plotter with five-inch display. The wood-accented wheel comes with Vessel Control System (VCS) thumb pads to manage the SmartCraft diagnostics and stereo functions. That stereo, by the way, is a Clarion with a CD player, an MP3 port, amplifier and six speakers. A premium upgrade includes a Polk MOMO stereo with six-CD changer, subwoofer and transom remote. The console opposite the helm houses a head compartment with a VacuFlush toilet, sink, pullout sprayer, and storage cabinet with mirrored door and light. The whole thing is molded fiberglass for easy showering and upkeep, and it's lockable for privacy or storage. The 300 Select EX has a ton of space in its cockpit. There's a back-to-back sliding lounger to port, across from the adjustable bucket helm seat with flip-up bolster, behind which lies a wet bar with solid-surface countertop, stainless-steel sink and tip-out trash receptacle. A U-shaped cockpit lounge backs up to the transom. But the most head-turning features here are the two aft-facing seats that look out over the water, inviting long hours of relaxation and conversation at anchor. A cockpit table sets up easily for alfresco dining; it has its own dedicated storage up front. An optional cockpit layout replaces the U-shaped lounge with a sun pad that comes with fiberglass-finished storage compartment and a hinged filler cushion for those who like a more traditional transom arrangement. Beyond the center transom walk-thru, an integrated swim platform offers a storage hatch, telescopic ladder and stainless-steel ski tow eye. A giant, optional, extended swim platform takes the waterfront acreage to amazing new dimensions. At the other end of the boat, there is lots of room on the wraparound bow lounges to really stretch out and enjoy the ride. Angled backrests, coaming pads, molded armrests, cup holders, stainless-steel grab handles, anchor locker - they're all here. Plus, a built-in cooler keeps you from having to leave your seat to freshen your drink. The fiberglass and aluminum tower with integral bimini is another standard feature.

Overview
The Sea Ray 300 SLX is a thoughtfully designed bow rider that combines upscale features with practical functionality. This model appeals to enthusiasts of spacious and versatile day boats, offering a balance of performance, comfort, and refined materials throughout the vessel.
Operational Features and Helm Design
Operational conveniences are well integrated into the 300 SLX. The battery switch is discreetly located behind a panel in the port bulwark, just aft of the port hand seat. The engine hatch is electrically actuated via a helm-mounted switch, providing a one-foot four and a half inch opening for routine checks. For more extensive maintenance, a removable pin allows the hatch to open fully. The engine compartment is spacious, accommodating twin engine configurations with ample side clearance and forward storage for tools and supplies. Safety is enhanced by a standard automatic fire suppression system, and the compartment is gel coated and insulated to reduce noise. The helm features a flat surface for personal items, with SmartCraft analog instrumentation flanking the console. The starboard tachometer includes selectable data such as depth, fuel consumption, and trim level, and can be upgraded to a vessel view display. A standard Garmin GPS 640 is centrally mounted. The leather-wrapped, tilt-adjustable three-spoke steering wheel complements the multi-tone, non-glare vinyl helm console. Below, waterproof toggle switches illuminate when active and are guarded against accidental activation. The standard helm seat is extra wide, well-padded, and includes a large flip-up bolster for extended comfort, with additional storage beneath. A double-wide helm seat is available as an option.
Dimensions and Performance
The 300 SLX measures 29 feet 6 inches in length overall, with a beam of 9 feet 8 inches and a draft of 38 inches. The test boat, equipped with a single 380 horsepower 8.2L Mercruiser engine paired with a Bravo 3 outdrive, weighed 8,377 pounds including two people and one-third fuel. During testing, the boat achieved a top speed of 46.8 miles per hour at 4,750 RPM, with a fuel consumption of 31.75 gallons per hour, resulting in a range of approximately 172 miles. The optimal cruising speed was identified at 26.1 miles per hour at 3,000 RPM, burning 10.95 gallons per hour, allowing for an 11-hour cruise and a range of 279 miles with a 10% fuel reserve. The vessel planes in 5.5 seconds and reaches 30 miles per hour in 11 seconds. Twin engine options include pairs of 260 horsepower 5-liter engines or 300 horsepower 350 Mag engines, with the possibility of adding the Axia joystick system for enhanced maneuverability.
Handling and Ride Quality
Visibility from the helm is excellent, with the windshield frame positioned well above the operator's line of sight, allowing an unobstructed forward view. The large bolster further elevates the operator's position. Upon acceleration, the bow rises approximately 12 degrees before settling quickly, maintaining clear horizon visibility. The boat exhibits a comfortable 10-degree roll during turns without excessive leaning that would displace passengers. Deceleration causes the stern to settle first while the bow remains below the horizon line. Trim adjustments are minimal, with a slight increase needed to shift spray aft when on plane. Maneuvering is intuitive, with recommended trim reduction before initiating turns. Overall, the 300 SLX offers a fun and engaging experience on the water, combining comfort with responsive handling.
Noise Reduction and Comfort
Sea Ray has incorporated QuietRide technology into the 300 SLX to significantly reduce onboard noise levels. This includes a proprietary tuned transom, specialized interlaminate materials, precise fit and finish to minimize vibration, and full beam bulkheads with acoustical insulation. These engineering efforts result in a noticeably quieter environment at the helm and throughout the boat, where wind noise becomes the dominant sound. The reduced noise contributes to lower operator and passenger fatigue and facilitates casual conversation even at cruising speeds.
Conclusion
The Sea Ray 300 SLX is a well-executed bow rider that excels in performance, comfort, and noise management. Its versatile design suits a variety of activities, from leisurely anchoring with friends to towing water toys or cruising to waterfront destinations. With thoughtful operational features, strong single-engine performance, and refined ride quality, the 300 SLX represents a compelling choice for day boat enthusiasts.
