The PowerBoat Guide had this to say:
The Sea Ray 280 Sun Sport offers the versatility and performance one expects in a modern sportboat together with a healthy dose of old-fashioned sex appeal. The popularity of the Sun Sport derives from her ability to do several things well. A functional cabin makes the 280 a good overnighter, and her wide 9-foot, 6-inch beam provides the cockpit space required to entertain as many as six guests in comfort. The helm position is particularly well-arranged and includes a burl wood console and a flip-up bolster that's essential on a high-speed sportboat. A wet bar with cooler, glass rack, and trash receptacle is just behind the helm seat, and the aft seating area lifts at the touch of a button to reveal the engine. The 280's big cockpit still leaves enough space below for an expansive U-shaped dinette (with a removable table) as well as an enclosed head with a premium vacuflush toilet and pullout shower.
