Compared to previous versions of the 250 SLX and six other current models in its class, the QuietRide system reduces noise by 9 to 17 decibels at top speed and 6 to 13 decibels at cruise, validating Sea Ray's claim of a 25 to 50 percent noise reduction.

These performance figures demonstrate that the standard engine is well-chosen for most users. However, for those planning to carry maximum loads and engage in water sports, the optional 380 horsepower 8.2-liter engine may be preferable. Handling characteristics include a 12-degree bow rise during acceleration, maintaining horizon visibility without aggressive trim adjustments. A slight trim adjustment brings the bow to a 5-degree cruise attitude, improving speed. The boat exhibited solid handling with a 16-degree lean into turns and no undesirable behaviors.
