Rather than opting for a fast and inexpensive build, Sea Ray has delivered a premium offering with a level of fit and finish usually reserved for much larger boats. This model combines thoughtful design, quality materials, and advanced features, positioning it as a standout in the midsize recreational boat market.

Helm and Exterior Design

At the helm, Sea Ray has implemented a clean and uncluttered layout that prioritizes functionality and aesthetics. The dashboard features four anti-fog gauges with chrome bezels mounted on a glare-reducing panel, complemented by a SmartKraft gauge offering selectable information to minimize visual clutter. The dual-tone vinyl upholstery, with a light tan lower panel and a dark brown sunshade brow, further reduces glare. Recognizing the challenges of daily engine checks on outboards, Sea Ray designed platforms on either side of the engine well, providing secure footing for maintenance tasks. This design facilitates easy removal of the engine cowl and access to routine checks and minor maintenance, enhancing overall usability.

The Sea Ray 220 Sundeck OB measures 20 feet in length overall, with a beam of 8 feet 4 inches and a draft of 3 feet 3 inches. While aggressive maneuvers can induce propeller ventilation, normal operation remains stable, and lowering trim alleviates ventilation. The digital throttle ensures instantaneous response, and the boat tends to lose speed in turns, warranting added power when cornering.
