Boattest.com Review
Overview
The Seapro 219 DVCC is a 21-foot, 9-inch center console boat designed primarily for fishing but equipped with features that also accommodate family cruising. It has a beam of 8 feet, 6 inches and a transom deadrise of 17.5 degrees, offering a balance between fuel efficiency and performance. Our test boat weighed approximately 4,221 pounds when fully loaded with two people, fuel, and gear.
Power and Performance
Powered by the new Evinrude E-Tech G2200 outboard engine, the Seapro 219 DVCC demonstrated impressive performance during testing. The engine features a 2.17-to-1 gear reduction and was paired with an 18-inch, three-blade stainless steel propeller. Running on bio-butanol fuel, which is derived from biomass and considered less corrosive than ethanol, the boat reached a top speed of 44 miles per hour at 5,850 RPM. Its most efficient cruise speed was 27.5 miles per hour at 4,000 RPM, consuming 7.25 gallons per hour and achieving a fuel economy of 3.79 miles per gallon. This efficiency translates to a cruising range of approximately 290 statute miles with 10% of the 85-gallon fuel tank reserved. The E-Tech G2200 also offers digital throttle and shift controls for precise handling, along with an automatic I-Trim system that adjusts trim across all RPM settings. The motor’s ability to tilt up to 81 degrees is advantageous for saltwater operation, as it raises the entire engine out of the water.
Handling and Ride Quality
The Seapro 219 DVCC’s hull design incorporates a 17.5-degree deadrise, a deep bow entry with broad flare, four strakes, reverse chines, and spray rails, all contributing to a balance of speed and fuel efficiency. While our testing was conducted in relatively calm conditions, the boat exhibited nimble maneuverability, executing tight S-turns with ease and maintaining steady tracking through wider arcs. The helm benefits from Evinrude’s integrated hydraulic steering, which provides smooth and responsive control without the typical mechanical feedback. The digital remote system eliminates gear shift clunks, enhancing the overall driving experience.
Helm and Bridge Features
The helm of the 219 DVCC is thoughtfully designed with a double-wide leaning post featuring a backrest, an acrylic windscreen, and a properly aligned compass integrated with a tilt steering wheel. Storage is well considered, with a large recessed tray lined with soft material and an additional smaller tray adjacent to the throttle controls. Our test boat was equipped with optional electronics, including a Garmin Fishfinder chart plotter and an Evinrude Icon touchscreen. Although the accessory switches are functional, their placement requires the driver to reach around or through the steering wheel, which could be improved. The helm also includes a locking glovebox housing the battery switch, an open storage tray, and a padded angled footrest. The optional Deluxe Fiberglass T-top is securely mounted with deck supports and features courtesy lights, an electronics box, spreader lights, speakers, and multiple rod holders.
Deck and Fishing Amenities
The 219 DVCC offers versatile deck spaces suitable for both fishing and cruising. Forward of the console, there is a seating area with a stainless steel rail surrounding the bow, complemented by seats on each side with fold-up backrests for comfort. The foredeck includes a notched hatch for anchor access and a single pull-up cleat. Storage is ample, with 120-quart insulated fish boxes beneath the outboard seats and additional underdeck lockers. The cockpit aft measures 24 inches deep and 7 feet wide with the transom bench stowed; the bench folds out to provide 4 feet, 4 inches of seating with stainless steel cup holders on each side. Storage compartments are located aft to port, and a centrally positioned 30-gallon livewell with aeration and rounded corners is easily accessible, supported by tension hinges for convenient operation. The starboard side features a gated passage to the stern, where a three-step stainless steel ladder is installed.
Innovative Features and Rigging
The Seapro 219 DVCC incorporates several innovative design elements uncommon in boats of this size. Notably, the splashwell includes a drainage manifold that consolidates all drain hoses into a single outlet, reducing hull penetrations and enhancing safety. The absence of visible lines and hoses in the splashwell contributes to a clean appearance, further improved by Evinrude’s clean rigging tube that protects wiring and hoses from environmental exposure.
Conclusion
The Seapro 219 Deep VCC successfully blends fishing functionality with family-friendly cruising features. Its hull design and powertrain deliver sporty performance and efficient operation, especially when paired with the bio-butanol-fueled Evinrude E-Tech G2200 outboard. The ergonomic helm layout, ample storage, and thoughtful deck amenities make it a versatile choice for anglers and recreational boaters alike.
