A completely fly-by-wire system controls the triple Yamaha F300 outboards, making them incredibly responsive. In addition to Yamaha's CommandLink electronic throttle and shift, Scout incorporated the Optimus steering system as standard on the 350 LXF. Optimus provides adjustable steering response according to speed. Interestingly, you never consciously notice the change. The system also provides more accurate control of the (3) 12-inch display Garmin navigation system and autopilot.

Boattest.com Review
Overview
The Scout 350 LXF is a versatile 35-foot boat designed to balance offshore capability with comfortable leisure cruising. It features a length overall of 34 feet 11 inches, a beam of 10 feet 9 inches, and a shallow draft of 23 inches. With a dry weight of 9,100 pounds and a test weight of 12,461 pounds including full fuel and three people, the 350 LXF is a substantial vessel that offers a solid and stable feel on the water.
Power and Performance
Powered by triple 300 horsepower Evinrude E-Tech G2 outboard engines turning 15 by 20 stainless steel props, the Scout 350 LXF demonstrated impressive performance during testing. It achieved a top speed of 59.4 miles per hour at 5,850 RPM, consuming 72.7 gallons of fuel per hour and providing a range of approximately 265 miles at that speed. The most efficient cruise speed was found at 3,500 RPM, delivering 33.8 miles per hour while burning 22.7 gallons per hour, extending the range to 483 miles. The boat planes quickly, reaching planing in 3.4 seconds and accelerating to 30 miles per hour in 7.1 seconds. Handling characteristics are deliberate and controlled, with a gentle response to steering inputs and a tendency to lean into turns, providing a planted and comfortable ride. Although sea conditions during testing were calm, the boat showed composed behavior crossing wakes.
Exterior Design and Deck Features
The Scout 350 LXF's exterior is thoughtfully designed with both comfort and functionality in mind. The bow area features a large sun pad with wrap-around bolsters and recessed powder-coated grab rails for safety. A pneumatic pedestal table rises at the push of a button to create a comfortable dining space. The anchor system is concealed under a hatch at the bow, with controls conveniently located nearby. Moving aft, a double-wide lounge seat ahead of the console offers one of the most popular relaxation spots onboard, complete with flip-down armrests. The captain and observer seats are equally comfortable, featuring flip-up bolsters and armrests, separated by a storage armrest. A teak swim platform with a reboarding ladder provides easy water access and walk-around space around the engines. The hardtop is equipped with rocket launchers and outrigger mounts, and its supports incorporate integral grab handles that blend seamlessly into the console, preserving side deck space and enhancing aesthetics.
Cockpit and Fishing Amenities
The cockpit is designed to support both fishing and leisure activities. A cockpit door leads to the swim platform, and an aft-facing bench seat offers comfort while monitoring fishing lines. Beneath this seat is a live well with a sliding cover, flanked by storage compartments for tackle organization. The transom bench seat is cleverly designed to deploy and stow easily, allowing the cockpit to transition between comfortable cruising and open workspace for fishing. Large in-deck fish lockers are positioned on both sides of the center deck hatch, which provides access to the bilge, live well, and raw water pumps. A 60-gallon transom fish box spans the stern, and a large outward-opening hull-side door on the port side facilitates hauling large catches or using the boat as a dive platform.
Interior Living Spaces
Inside the console, the Scout 350 LXF offers practical accommodations including a head, a small galley, and a berth suitable for overnight stays. The interior spaces are designed to maximize comfort and utility, supporting extended trips and providing refuge from the elements.
Storage and Comfort Features
Storage is abundant throughout the 350 LXF. Under the lounge ahead of the console, lengthy storage compartments provide ample space for gear, accessed via lift-and-lock latches. Forward-facing speakers and a stereo control panel enhance the onboard entertainment experience. The quality of materials and the fit and finish throughout the boat are of a high standard, consistent with Scout's reputation for craftsmanship.
Conclusion
The Scout 350 LXF stands out as a well-rounded boat that effectively bridges the gap between a rugged offshore fishing platform and a comfortable day cruiser. Its solid build, thoughtful design, and quality materials make it suitable for both serious fishing endeavors and relaxed outings. The boat’s measured handling and ample amenities contribute to a versatile and enjoyable boating experience.
