Sailfish 360 CC: BoatTEST Review
Overview
The Sailfish 360 Center Console represents the flagship model in Sailfish's 15-boat lineup, designed to deliver versatility and solid construction for both offshore fishing and inshore entertaining. Our test boat was equipped with triple Yamaha F300 four-stroke outboards, providing a combined 900 horsepower out of the maximum 1,050 horsepower rating, allowing for flexible engine configurations with either Mercury or Yamaha powerplants.
Exterior Design and Cockpit Features
Starting at the stern, the Sailfish 360CC features a well-thought-out swim platform accessed via a 16-inch wide walkthrough on the starboard side, complemented by a concealed four-step reboarding ladder. A transom walkover facilitates easy movement between platforms, while seven transom-mounted rod holders and a 42-gallon aerated bait well with blue gel coat and rounded corners enhance fishing functionality. Both quarters include pull-up cleats, fender hooks, rod holders, and dual-purpose rod holder cup holders. The 21- to 24-inch wide swing and dive door, hinged with robust stainless steel hardware, doubles as a dockside boarding gate. The cockpit deck houses a concealed four-step ladder and handholds for swimmer assistance. Mezzanine seating behind the leaning post offers comfort for bait washing, with gas-assisted lift-up seat bottoms revealing an 80-quart cooler and a 32-gallon bait well. Additional storage for tackle boxes flanks the mezzanine, while the T-top supports four rocket launchers and an extensive array of 360-degree LED spreader lights on the stern, sides, and front. Outriggers are integrated into the T-top for convenient deployment. The transom includes a forward-facing aft bench seat that folds out, doubling as a bolster for fishing, and an optional inboard-facing fold-out seat creates a U-shaped social cockpit arrangement. The cockpit also features 9-inch combing bolsters rising from 22 to 31 inches above deck, two 200-quart in-deck fish boxes with vacuum pump clearing systems, under-gunnel rod storage with built-in tow rails, and a freeboard measuring 3 feet 4 inches at the aft gunnel and 4 feet 7 inches at rest.
Helm and Electronics
The helm station is designed for advanced navigation and comfort, featuring three 12-inch Garmin 7612 multifunction displays integrated into the dash with air conditioning vents below. The console top includes three molded-in bins with removable dividers, protected by a gasketed Loctite glass lid for secure gear storage. The black steering wheel is equipped with a steering knob and adjustable tilt base. Engine controls, system switches, trim tab controls with indicators, stereo controller, VHF radio, joystick for optional Optimus steering, spotlight controller, and windlass switch are ergonomically arranged on the starboard and port sides. A power vent in the curved windshield facilitates fresh air circulation, complemented by an integrated windshield wiper and washer. Overhead, light and vent switches, the Yamaha engine monitor, and storage boxes are conveniently located. A cockpit camera provides rear visibility. Seating at the helm includes triple-wide seats with bolsters and flip-up armrests, with the center operator's seat electrically adjustable. The helm deck incorporates padded flooring for comfort during extended runs and a fold-down platform for shorter operators. Footrests and conveniently placed switch panels for bait wells, washdown, and refrigeration complete the helm ergonomics.
Interior Living Spaces and Console Amenities
Accessed via the port side, the console interior offers practical amenities for extended outings. The aft bulkhead houses battery switches, fuses, and electronics with swing-out panels for easy maintenance. The head compartment is located beneath a teak shower seat, with a sink faucet that converts to a shower and an opening port light for ventilation. The head activation switch is conveniently mounted on the sink vanity. The interior space converts into a berth measuring 6 feet 8 inches in length, 4 feet 5 inches in width, and 16 inches of overhead clearance, with rod holders along the bulkhead for fishing gear storage.
Forward Seating and Deck Layout
Forward of the console, the cockpit features built-in lounge seating with high backrests, armrests, cup holders, and rod holders on either side. Deep storage compartments beneath the seats measure 23 inches deep, 35 inches wide, and 37 inches front to back. The 8-inch combing bolsters rise to 39 inches, surrounding a table that can be lowered to convert the area into a sun pad with upholstered inserts. The bolsters adjacent to the forward seating convert into forward-facing backrests, creating additional lounge space. Controls for a 12-volt outlet, stereo remote, and cubby storage are conveniently positioned. For anglers, the forward seating can transform into a large casting platform. The port and starboard forward bench seats incorporate insulated 80-quart storage boxes with resin transfer molded lids, gas assist struts, and drainage overboard. Pop-up cleats and rod holders flank the foredeck, while the ground tackle locker hatch is recessed with gas assist struts. The centrally mounted windlass leads to a through-the-stem anchor roller system with side access.
Special Features and Handling
The hardtop includes a vented sunroof and an articulating rear shade, a design that preserves interior space unlike other rear shade systems. The support rod system allows the sunshade to be deployed at full speed. The optional Optimus joystick steering system enhances close-quarters maneuvering and docking precision when paired with the triple Yamaha F300 outboards. The boat measures 38 feet 6 inches overall length, with an 11-foot 2-inch beam and a 2-foot 4-inch draft. The empty weight is 12,700 pounds, with an estimated test weight of 15,220 pounds including fuel and two people on board.
Performance Evaluation
During testing, the Sailfish 360CC achieved a top speed of 54.1 miles per hour at 5,500 rpm with triple Yamaha F300 engines turning 15.25 by 18-inch saltwater props. The optimal cruising speed was identified at 3,000 rpm, yielding 24.7 miles per hour with a fuel consumption of 20 gallons per hour. This translates to a fuel efficiency of 1.2 miles per gallon and a cruising range of approximately 446 statute miles, maintaining a 10% fuel reserve from the 400-gallon total capacity. Although mild conditions limited assessment of rough-water handling, wake crossings demonstrated the effectiveness of the bow flare, variable deep-V hull, hard chines, and running streaks in producing a smooth, dry ride. The boat tracks well with moderate roll in turns, contributing to overall comfort for passengers.
Conclusion
The Sailfish 360 Center Console combines thoughtful design, robust construction, and versatile features to meet the needs of anglers and family-oriented boaters alike. Its blend of fishing amenities, comfortable seating arrangements, advanced electronics, and strong performance make it a compelling option for those seeking a capable offshore and inshore vessel. The optional joystick steering and innovative hardtop design further enhance usability and comfort, positioning the 360CC as a well-rounded flagship model in Sailfish's lineup.
