Traditional styling, comfortable accommodations, and quality construction are the hallmarks of the Sabreline 36 Express, a Down East classic whose timeless lines turns heads in any marina. Built on a fully cored hull with moderate beam, the bottom was redesigned in 2000 (the MKII version) by increasing the transom deadrise from 14 to 18 degrees and eliminating the skeg of the earlier model.
While the Sabreline’s bi-level cockpit is roomy enough for some light-tackle fishing—and the bridge deck has adequate seating for family and friends—it’s the elegant interior that captures the hearts of purists. Here, a blend of varnished hardwood joinery, solid panel doors, and a teak-and-holly sole create a warm and completely inviting living area.
Notable features of the Sabreline 36 include wide side decks, a transom door, side exhausts, radar mast, and a well-arranged engine room. On the downside, there’s no shower stall in the head. Early hull models with 300hp Cat diesels cruise at 20 knots (around 24 knots top), and later MKII versions with 315hp Yanmars cruise in the mid 20s (around 28 knots top), and optional 370hp Yanmars cruise in the mid 20s and top out at 30+ knots.
The Sabre Design Team designed the Sabreline 36 Express Cruiser to fit a new boating lifestyle, while meeting the desire for traditional good looks, outstanding performance, and unequaled quality above and belowdecks.
The standard layout of the forward cabin offers a comfortable island berth with an optional V-berth. The head compartment enjoys private access from both the forward cabin and the main salon. The main salon has space for four adults to relax at the end of the day or to enjoy a meal. Opposite the salon is a full galley offering a refrigerator, a propane stove with oven, and plenty of storage.
On deck the helm is located to starboard behind a stylish stainless steel framed windshield. All engine controls, the ship's compass, and her owner's navigation electronics are installed on a helm pod which can be tilted aft for easy access and maintenance. Aft of the mate's seat, and in the lower cockpit are fixed bench seats with storage.
The 36 Express cruiser appeals to yachtsmen for whom work, and other leisure time activities may not always leave time to take advantage of the amenities and range of a large motor yacht. The express style offers a large cockpit, ample spaces for day use, and greater ease of handling around the docks while offering outstanding performance. Simply put, she's less complex, but every bit a Sabreline.
