2016 Sabre 48 Salon Express Boat in Sausalito, CA 94965 US
48 Salon Express
2 Engines (2x Cummins)
48 feet

Fiberglass/Reinforced
WASABI is a shining example of a 48 Salon Express sporting low engine hours (420hrs). Her most notable factory option just might be optional third "Crew's Cabin". With the push of a button the port salon settee slides forward revealing an air-conditioned, full-beam "bat cave" hidden beneath the salon floor. Complete with queen berth, TV w/DVD & private head it serves as a quintessential kid's cruising lair. A testament to what was possible in yacht design during the advent stages of pod-driven boats in which Sabre was the leader of that era.
Another design element that sets the Sabre 48 apart is the extremely unique midship owner's cabin. A linear ship's galley to-port affords Sabre the opportunity to orient the main cabin parallel to-starboard. Now the owner's cabin can run the length, rather than beam of the boat. The result offers a wider queen berth walk-around & spacious owner's head featuring separate stall shower. Keeping to classic fashion the VIP cabin is forward of the galley complete with private head & separate stall shower.
All-together a clever 3-cabin / 3-head layout making her an ideal cruising platform capable of a breath-taking cruising speed of 27kts! If long-range cruising isn't on the menu she can also serve as an entertainer which is easy to single-hand believe it or not. Preparing fenders and dock lines is a drama-free event thanks to the SkyHook Joystick & helm door. You can't ask for much more in a forty-eight foot boat. Sprayed with AwlGrip Aqua-Mist "wasabi" green makes her a real head turner.

Twin Cummins 550hp (420hrs)
Joystick docking w/Skyhook

Surveyor's comments from reports are as follows:
"A 2016, 48 foot, fiberglass hull motor yacht named “WASABI”, bearing USCG Doc# 1266656, reported to have struck a channel marker while underway in Richardson Bay, CA, on 09/16/2024. Survey was held while vessel was hauled out at KKMI, Sausalito, CA on 09/23/2024."
"Vessel sustained significant damage to the forward 10’ of the bow hull and deck. Repairs were completed utilizing a section of the hull and deck, manufactured by Sabre, and attached at KKMI Richmond. I surveyed the vessel upon completion of the repairs and found the vessel to be in like new condition.
A sea trial was conducted at the time of inspection. All equipment functioned satisfactory and no discrepancies were identified.
The vessel is in overall good condition and considered suitable for its intended use as a pleasure craft operating on an inland and coastwise route upon completion of below recommendations, Section A."
Broker’s Comments:
Damage was all above waterline with no indication or report of any water intrusion. Hull sides are cored with foam.
Repair took nearly a year while boat yard sourced new ground tackle and parts, Sabre molded new hullsides, deck and cabinetry for forward bow section.
Once bow section was complete and shipped KKMI boat yard “scarfed” the new bow section into place. Hull was then repaint in original “Aqua Mist” awlgrip paint. Her exterior condition is exceptional supported by Sept. 2026 condition and valuation insurance survey. On the inside, again there is no indication of a repair being made. Of course this disclosure will follow the vessel for the remainder of her recreational use.
Photos of repair progress, yard receipts, and both pre & post surveys available upon request. Current Seller is acting fiduciary to the now deceased previous owner’s trust. Any and all written offers will be presented.

A focal point in this model is the port settee in the salon. With the touch of a switch, the settee glides towards the center of the salon, bringing it closer to the salon table for more guests to gather around the table when serving a meal or playing a card game. Once the settee moves from the wall, the stairway is revealed to the third stateroom perfect for crew or guests with a double berth, large bureau, under berth storage, flat screen TV w/ DVD player, private head with hand held shower and dedicated AC/heat zone.

Forward of the galley is the passageway to the VIP Stateroom with island berth, cedar lined closets, drawers and under the berth storage. As an early adopter of pod drive systems, Sabre Yachts has a clear understanding of how these revolutionary drives can best be used to increase efficiency, maximize ease of operation and owner confidence. The all-new Sabre 48 Salon Express is our fifth pod driven model and she takes full advantage of this technology in both her performance and in her interior accommodation plan.
The 48's traditional exterior profile belies the contemporary performances of her vee-hull. Her Zeus drive train is the latest in pod technology from ZF Marine and Cummins. Pods offer quieter operation, better fuel economy than straight shafts, and unequalled easy of handling around the docks.
She cruises at 27 knots and at wide open throttle she'll attain more than 32 knots. With the Zeus pod drive system, turns at speed are as exciting as they are in a fine sports car but perhaps even more exhilarating is the quiet that one experiences at cruise speeds. Less than 75 Dba makes her one of the quietest motoryachts available today. The joystick and Skyhook operations give every Captain the confidence to dock her in the most difficult of circumstances.
Her raised cockpit sole brings together the social aspects of the cockpit and main salon and the aft end of the house opens up fully to connect the spaces. Her main salon offers ample seating surfaces for entertaining or simply relaxing to read or enjoy the standard entertainment systems. While underway the raised settee to port of the Stidd helm chair is a perfect place for the crew to enjoy the ride. And when docking, a standard side deck door serves her helmsman and crew, well. The two cabin, two head layout is supplemented by a mechanical space forward of the engine room. Optionally, this space can be laid out as a crew quarters with berth and head unit.
