ââ¬ÅY-Knot 3ââ¬ï¿½ is the desirable MK II edition of the Maine-built Sabre 38 centerboard model. With her board-up draft of just over 4 feet she can cruise the shallow waters of the Keys and Bahamas. With her mast height of 57 feet she can also clear most ICW fixed bridges. All sail control lines are led to the cockpit for easy and safe handling by the two-person crew. The headsails are roller-furled and the mainsail is fitted with the Doyle ââ¬ÅStack-Packââ¬ï¿½ system with lazy jacks. The cockpit features a custom teak helm seat, and full dodger and bimini with connector panel and side screens. Solar panels augment the high output engine alternator, keeping the new house batteries charged so the inverter can power most house-hold appliances.
On the interior, a larger refrigerator/freezer has been installed, as well as a tankless instant hot water system. The navigation station has been re-modeled from the original aft-facing arrangement to a larger desk with swing-out seat. The starboard settee/pilot berth has been converted into a huge storage chest and work table. The aft quarter berth mattress has been removed to convert this space into a utility/storage area. The quality of the new joinerwork is the equal of the original Maine craftsmanship.
ââ¬ÅY-Knot 3ââ¬ï¿½ should be given serious consideration by those seeking a quality American made yacht with appealing live-aboard features, a board-up shallow draft, and a good turn of speed under sail.
