Rinker 300: BoatTEST Review

Reviewed by Jeff Hammond

Overview

The Rinker Fiesta V 300 is the first twin-powered wide-body cruiser introduced in Rinker's lineup, debuting in 2005 as a revised version of the previous 290 model. Positioned as the entry-level twin-engine boat, it is designed to offer more spacious accommodations and entertainment areas than most competitors. With over six feet of cabin headroom, the boat ensures comfort for guests without feeling cramped. Its beam and weight contribute to a stable ride, and a larger fuel capacity supports longer cruising distances.

Exterior Design and Helm Features

The boat's exterior includes a well-equipped bow with an anchor, roller, windlass, and spotlight. The expansive bow area is secured by high rails and features a wraparound windshield with a large walk-through and a starboard wiper for the driver. An arch supports mounted speakers and antennas. The helm station is detailed with burlwood accents and a padded tilt steering wheel. Instrumentation includes Faria gauges and an optional Lowrance mapping display, while the mid-level dash hosts a stereo remote, rocker control switches, and a prominent red horn switch. Additional controls for speed, trim, depth, windlass, searchlight, and bow planes are conveniently placed. The VHF radio is mounted below dual throttles equipped with integral trim switches. The helm also features a flip-up bolster for comfortable stand-up driving. Adjacent to the helm, the navigator station includes a chart kit holder, cup holders, and a wrap-around bench with a lounger back. A smoke glass door with integrated screens allows ventilation, reflecting thoughtful design for onboard comfort.

Interior Living Spaces

Below deck, the cabin offers numerous amenities and spacious accommodations. A pneumatic lift facilitates raising the table and V-berth for overnight stays. Natural light enters through two large portals, complemented by three mirrors that enhance the sense of space. Privacy is ensured by a curtain that encloses the sleeping area. The cabin houses the power panel and entertainment controls, along with additional storage cabinets. The port settee is equipped with speakers and overhead cabinets, while an air conditioning unit is installed beneath half of the bench, with storage occupying the remaining space. Open stairs lead to the stern berth, which benefits from ample clothing storage and a long mirror that visually enlarges the area. The galley is fully appointed with a microwave, stainless steel sink, single burner cooktop, refrigerator-freezer combo, and a TV-DVD unit housed in the upper cabinet. The head compartment is roomy, featuring a pump-out toilet, vanity with stainless steel sink, and a pull-out faucet shower with a decorative rail.

Cockpit and Deck Amenities

The cockpit is thoughtfully equipped for convenience and entertainment. On the port side, there is a covered trash bin, three cupholders, and a lotion organizer. Behind the helm station, a prep station includes a blender-ready setup, a small sink, and space below for an optional refrigerator or ice maker. The stern bench offers generous storage for large items and can accommodate a snack table for guests. A stereo remote control located near the walk-through transom door allows easy audio adjustments from the swim platform. Additional features at the stern include shore water connections, a transom shower, and a deep-reach four-step swim ladder designed for easy water access.

Power and Performance

The test boat was powered by twin MerCruiser 5-liter MPI engines, which were installed with sufficient clearance to facilitate routine maintenance. The Fiesta V 300 measures 31 feet 6 inches in length overall with a beam of 10 feet 6 inches. Draft is 22 inches with the out-drive raised and 36 inches with it lowered. During testing on a calm, foggy morning, the boat achieved a top speed of 44.4 mph at 5,050 rpm, reaching the engine's rev limiter. Noise levels were measured at a comfortable 87 dBA at top speed. The optimal cruising speed was 33.8 mph at 4,000 rpm, providing an estimated range of 180 miles. Handling was precise and responsive across the rpm range, with smooth maneuvering at the dock and confident turns on the water.

Conclusion

The Rinker Fiesta V 300 stands out as a spacious and well-equipped twin-engine cruiser that balances comfort, entertainment, and performance. Its thoughtful design features both above and below deck cater to the needs of boaters seeking ample accommodations and practical amenities. The boat's handling and powertrain deliver a satisfying on-water experience, making it a compelling option for those interested in a twin-engine cruiser with generous space and reliable performance.
