Overview

The Regal LS36 is a thoughtfully designed day yacht developed in response to customer demand for a step up from the 3300 model. It offers a blend of spacious social zones, functional features, and advanced technology, all packaged in a 37-foot vessel that balances performance and comfort. Regal emphasizes standard features and quality craftsmanship throughout the boat, making it well suited for day cruising and entertaining.

Exterior Design and Cockpit

The LS36 features a hull-side dive door with a magnetic catch for ease of use, along with a 19-inch walkthrough to the stern. The aft seating area converts between two positions via a simple latch, complementing the wide stern walkthrough and rumble seating options. The extended swim platform includes a rail for safety and an optional power platform underneath. Standard underwater lights enhance the ambiance. Storage is abundant, including a deep compartment on the port side extending to the wet bar. A boarding step facilitates access from fixed piers. The cockpit social zone showcases Regal’s signature fit and finish, with detailed stitching, embroidery, flip-down armrests, and pop-up LED lighting. Opposing seating arrangements accommodate multiple guests, and two optional tables provide dining flexibility. The recessed galley area includes an electric grill, sink, cutting surface, flip-out trash receptacle, and a pull-out Yeti cooler. Refrigerated drawers and storage options are standard, with customizable refrigeration or freezer configurations. A drop-down 32-inch TV and retractable awning enhance comfort and entertainment.

Helm and Navigation

The helm is equipped with three 16-inch displays—two at the helm and one at the observer station—allowing the companion to actively participate in navigation. The displays integrate seamlessly with the Volvo Penta power plant, eliminating traditional gauges for a clean, uncluttered appearance. A hardtop provides overhead protection, with manually opening side windows and an innovative air diverter system that directs airflow downward onto the helm and companion seats for enhanced comfort. The hardtop can be fully opened for additional ventilation, and climate control vents are also available. The helm seat is double-wide with an electrically adjustable fore-and-aft slide and a single flip bolster. Joystick controls are standard on both sides regardless of engine choice, and a wireless inductive charger is included.

Interior and Amenities

The head compartment, accessed via a 24-inch sliding door to port, offers 58 inches of overhead clearance and 41 inches of sitting headroom. It features a solid surface countertop with sink, an electric flush toilet, and houses the ship’s AC power panel, Seakeeper control panel, and generator controls. The windshield is designed with sliding panels supported by handrails, complemented by a wind dam underneath for added protection. Forward of the helm, the bow social zone includes two double-wide forward-facing seats with flip-down armrests, one of which converts into a chaise lounge, and a wide aft-facing seat. An electric windlass is installed in the anchor locker, which includes a through-stem anchor roller. The bow area is equipped with beverage holders, grab rails, padded bolsters, full-length stainless steel cap rail grab rails, and sockets for an optional Bahamas sunshade. Additional storage compartments are integrated throughout the deck and cockpit, some insulated and macerated, with options to convert certain spaces into overnight sleeping areas.

Power and Performance

The LS36 is powered exclusively by Volvo Penta V8 engines, with options of 350, 380, or 430 horsepower. The test boat featured the mid-range 380 horsepower engines paired with FH6 propellers. The boat measures 37 feet 3 inches overall, with a beam of 11 feet 6 inches and a draft of 33.5 inches. Performance testing showed a top speed of 49.7 mph at 5820 RPM. Best cruise speed was 30.4 mph at 4000 RPM, achieving a fuel burn of 23.5 gallons per hour, translating to 1.3 miles per gallon and a range of 243 miles while maintaining a 10% fuel reserve from the 209-gallon capacity. The LS36 planes quickly, reaching planing speed in 7.2 seconds and maintaining plane down to 13.6 mph. Acceleration to 20 mph took 8.2 seconds, 30 mph in 12.3 seconds, and 40 mph in 18 seconds. Handling is precise and responsive, with minimal bow rise and excellent wave-cutting ability, especially around the 30 mph sweet spot. The hull’s variable dead rise enhances performance in both flat and choppy water. The boat includes a SeaKeeper 2 gyro stabilizer and an 8KW diesel generator, with an optional lithium-ion battery pack available for extended electrical system operation without the generator.
