Overview

The Regal 29 OBX is a newly introduced model designed to offer increased interior space and an elevated level of luxury. Responding to customer demand, Regal has reintroduced outboard power with a hull that has been completely re-engineered specifically for this propulsion setup. This approach ensures optimized performance rather than simply adapting an existing hull to outboard engines.

Exterior Design and Deck Layout

The 29 OBX measures 29 feet in length overall, with a beam of 9 feet and a draft of 2 feet 7 inches. The hull features twin full-beam steps characteristic of Regal's fast track design, contributing to improved planing and efficiency. The transom area remains fully functional despite the outboard configuration, featuring a swim platform that extends around the stern with full walk-around capability. An elevated mount integral to the hull supports the outboards, with a cap forming an extended swim platform that does not bear the engine load. Amenities in this area include a concealed swim ladder, fresh water shower, wet storage compartment, two waterproof speakers, and a remote-controlled Fusion stereo system. Two double-wide aft-facing seats can be converted into a sun pad, enhancing relaxation options.

Powered by twin 200 horsepower Yamaha four-stroke outboards with 19-inch Reliance propellers, the 29 OBX achieved a top speed of 52.6 miles per hour at 5250 RPM during testing. The boat demonstrated efficient cruising at 3500 RPM, reaching 27.3 miles per hour while consuming 11.2 gallons per hour, resulting in a range of approximately 324 miles with a 10% fuel reserve from the total 148-gallon capacity.
