Introduced in 1982 as the Regal 277XL, this model went through more model upgrades and name changes than just about any other boat in the business. After five years of production as the 277XL, Regal redesigned the deckhouse and added a curved windshield in 1988 and reintroduced her as the 280 Commodore as this boat is often mistaken for but very similar.
New (2002) Mercruiser V-6 4.3 liter 205's with 600+/- hours, Morse engine controls and new electric windlass installed on pulpit in 2002. Two aluminum fuel tanks (140 gal. total) located outboard and forward of each engine with shut off valves. Her electrical system is 12V DC w/individual circuit breakers & 120V AC from shore current with individual circuit breakers. Serviced from (3) 12V batteries via (2) Perko 4 position rotary type switches and (1) Guest 4 position rotary type; charging via Guest Model 2530 30 amp automatic and off engine alternators.
Cabin layout starts with a Vee-berth forward with the galley starboard forward side of main cabin with a Seaward Princess Model 2252 combustible 2 burner alcohol/electric stove and a Norcold refrigerator. The dinette is to port.
She has a 35 gal. plastic water tank with 12V Shur Flo pump; 6 gal. Seaward hot water heater. Jabco water closet with 12V Jabco macerator pump to a 21 gal. plastic holding tank.
Teak swim platform accessed through a very desirable transom door.
