"Archer" is a 40' R-Class designed by Frank Paine in 1927 and completely built up from scratch in 1994. The hull is solid 1/2" fiberglass below the waterline and cored above. She has a newly rebuilt foredeck in 1/2" mahogany plywood and fiberglass, with laminated oak beams. Mast step reinforced, topsides painted, deck nonskid replaced. Engine and fuel tanks were removed and replaced with an electric motor and battery bank.
She rates in as an R-Class under the Universal Rule and is an official member of the Lake Ontario R-Class fleet, and has competed for the Lipton Cup for the past 3 years. She is a very competitive boat in one of the best racing classes on Lake Ontario with many other boats joining the fleet. A classic racing yacht ready for a new owner. This is the fastest hull design of all the boats in the R-Class fleet. With a new set of sails this boat can be extremely competitive.
