Quarken 35 Sport Tourer: BoatTEST Review
Overview
The Hawkin 35 Sport Tour is a newly launched model introduced in 2022 by a Finnish manufacturer. This boat represents a fresh entry into the market, combining modern design with practical features aimed at enhancing both comfort and functionality on the water.
Exterior Design and Deck Layout
Starting at the stern, the boat features a spacious sun pad area that can be easily transformed to suit different needs. Twin large Yamaha outboard engines provide the power for this vessel. Adjacent to the sun pad is a seating area equipped with a foldout table that includes safety rails, offering guests secure handholds during rough conditions. Cup holders are conveniently placed nearby. The terrace sides of the boat have been cleverly converted into additional seating, allowing extra passengers to relax or even dangle their legs over the side while anchored. Moving forward to the bow, there is a well-appointed kitchenette area with ample space, a sink, grill capability, storage compartments, a fridge, cup holders, and USB charging ports. The bow seating area is versatile, allowing occupants to sit upright for better visibility or recline comfortably. The helm station includes two engine controls and a bow thruster, enhancing maneuverability. The lighting system is customizable with color options, including a playful pink setting, and can be turned off for night cruising. Touch buttons for navigation lights, bilge pumps, and other essential functions are easily accessible, complemented by Garmin and Yamaha digital displays. A large overhead window floods the helm area with natural light, and a fabric panel on the wall adds to the airy ambiance. The helm seat can flip back to reveal a full U-shaped seating arrangement at the rear, creating a social space when anchored. Notably, the boat features a fully enclosed windshield extending from bow to T-top, providing protection from the elements.
Interior Living Spaces
Below deck at the bow, the cabin houses a full-width bed equipped with integrated speakers and an escape hatch for safety. Two portlights on either side and a large skylight above allow abundant natural light to fill the space. A cozy sitting area offers a comfortable spot for morning coffee or relaxation during inclement weather. The head compartment includes a shower and toilet, making overnight stays feasible. This particular model is the open version, but a closed variant is also available, featuring ridges that allow the cockpit area to be fully enclosed for added protection and privacy.
Bow and Foredeck Features
The foredeck is designed with two distinct seating areas. The primary sunbathing area is positioned above the cabin window, providing a pleasant spot for relaxation. Additionally, there is a smaller seating section with an adjustable table, offering versatility for dining or socializing while enjoying the forward view.
Conclusion
The Hawkin 35 Sport Tour presents a well-thought-out combination of comfort, functionality, and modern design elements. Its spacious exterior lounging areas, practical helm features, and comfortable interior accommodations make it suitable for both day cruising and overnight stays. The inclusion of advanced controls and customizable lighting further enhances the user experience, positioning this Finnish-built boat as a compelling option in its class.
