"Sojourner" is a two-owner freshwater sailed vessel. Her prideful owners have taken meticulous care of her in and out. She is a legend at her home at Erie Yacht Club. Seldom have I seen a vessel this age in such great condition. From her Gelcoat to her varnished teak cabinets and teak and holly sole she shows her quality. Great care was taken to keep up her bright work. Her deck, rigging, hull and rub-rail are in wonderful condition. Bill Shawââ?¬â?¢s design had the Pearson 530 as one of the largest production boats of her era. Thirty Pearson 530ââ?¬â?¢s were built. A true ââ?¬Å?Blue-waterââ?¬ï¿½ live aboard she is easy to sail for a couple and big enough to entertain and sail with guests. She is powerful under sail and equally at home under power.

Pros

Spacious Interior: The Pearson 530 offers a roomy and comfortable cabin layout, making it ideal for extended cruising and liveaboard situations.

Solid Construction: Built with quality materials and craftsmanship typical of Pearson Yachts, the 530 is known for its durability and seaworthiness.

Good Sailing Performance: With a well-designed sail plan and hull shape, the Pearson 530 handles well under sail, providing a balanced and stable ride.

Ample Storage: Generous storage spaces throughout the boat make it practical for long voyages.

Strong Community Support: As a popular model, there is a good network of owners and resources for maintenance and upgrades.

Cons

Age-Related Wear: Being a vessel from 1981, many boats may require updates or repairs to systems such as plumbing, electrical, and engine.

Heavier Displacement: The boat’s weight can make it less responsive in light wind conditions compared to more modern, lighter designs.

Outdated Interior Styling: The interior design and materials reflect the era it was built in and may feel dated to some owners.

Limited Dealer Support: Since Pearson Yachts is no longer in production, finding original parts or factory support can be challenging.

Maintenance Requirements: Older fiberglass boats like the Pearson 530 typically need regular upkeep to maintain hull integrity and prevent issues like osmosis.
