Many knowledgeable sailors have praised this thirty-six Pearson design by Bill Shaw. She was designed by a man passionate about cruising and racing and his appreciation for comfort under sail and on the hook shows throughout. It might sound like an exaggeration to claim the 36 is more accommodating than many 40 footers, were it not for the proud and experienced owners who have said she exceeds the livability of many a 42!
With 6' or more of headroom throughout, comfortable sleeping room for 6 and an incredibly efficient galley to feed the crew, it's hard to imagine living anywhere but aboard! The aft berth is queen size! The warm rich teak interior is inviting and she also has teak and holly cabin sole you could almost eat off of. The complete dodger and bimini will keep you out of the sun.
A new custom winter cover was made in 2012, assuring complete protection during the off season storage on the hard. With her modern fin keel and spade rudder under-body, she can point high in to the wind and also track well in a following sea.
Plenitude has been extremely well maintained and regularly upgraded. She has spent her entire life in the fresh water of the Great Lakes. The current owner has enjoyed sailing her for 14 years.
She was recently surveyed to be sold and was found to have a hull lamination problem, near the outer skin on the port side, from near the gunwale down about 17", for about 25 feet fore and aft. The hull had been exposed to another boat's fire back in the 1990's and had a cosmetic repair accomplished. But the lamination problem was not discovered until now. Although this boat has been sailed for many years without any problems and could be sailed today.
There is also a port side deck high moisture problem with the core that covers about four square feet, at the aft end of the genoa track. Both the hull and deck can be completely restored to better than new by Torresen Marine Inc. or yourself, if you are handy. We have, therefore, dropped the asking price of Plenitude by more than half.
You can not see any of these problems with the hull or deck. She looks great and as stated above, has been extremely well maintained and could make a sailor a wonderful sailing craft, for many years ahead.
