"We went for a pleasant sail aboard the 32 off Newport, Rhode Island, in a steady 15-18 knot sea breeze. The boat relished the moderate conditions and rode smoothly and powerfully through a sizable chop at the mouth of Narragansett Bay. We kept speed in the solid sixes and response at the helm was excellent, even through tacks. There was no apparent slapping on the underside of the bridge deck, and acceleration was quick and positive. In the breezy air we encountered, the behavior of the boat was top-notch." Quentin Warren for Cruising World

Knotty Cat is a single owner yacht that has been seasonally sailed in the Northeast splitting her time between the water and dry storage. She is well equipped and well maintained, and ready to cruise now. The seller is motivated and has priced the yacht in line with the market. This is  great opportunity to own arguably one of the nicest PDQ Altair 32's to hit the market for some time.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The PDQ Altair 32, a multihull built in 2001, is recognized for its unique design and performance features. Here’s a look at the pros and cons of this vessel:

Pros

Stability and Performance: The catamaran design offers excellent stability, making it a comfortable choice for cruising. It performs well in a variety of conditions, thanks to its lightweight construction and efficient hull design.

Spacious Interior: The PDQ Altair 32 boasts a roomy interior with ample living space, making it suitable for families or groups. The open layout allows for easy movement between the saloon and the galley, while large windows provide natural light and great views.

Ease of Handling: With a manageable size, the Altair 32 is easy to handle for both experienced sailors and novices. Its rigging is designed for simplicity, making it easier to maneuver under sail or dock.

Fuel Efficiency: The catamaran’s design allows for efficient use of fuel, making it a cost-effective option for longer voyages. The ability to sail at reasonable speeds minimizes the need for motor usage.

Ample Storage: The vessel provides plenty of storage options for gear and supplies, including accessible compartments in the hulls and within the saloon areas.

Cons

Limited Speed: While the Altair 32 is stable, some may find its top speed less impressive compared to more racing-oriented catamarans. Those looking for extreme performance might want to consider other options.

Less Privacy: The open-plan design, while spacious, may sacrifice some privacy. The layout may not be ideal for those seeking secluded sleeping quarters or separated living spaces.

Older Model Considerations: Being a 2001 model, potential buyers should be mindful of the wear and tear that may come with age. Inspecting the condition of the vessel and its systems is crucial.

Maintenance Costs: As with any boat, the costs associated with maintenance and repairs can add up over time. Potential buyers should factor this into their long-term budgeting plans.

Draft Limitations: While the shallow draft allows for beaching and exploring shallow waters, it may limit access to some deeper marinas or moorings.
