The Outbound 46 was designed by the late Carl Schumacher, whose other successful designs include the Alerion Express 28 and 38, Oyster's Lightwave 48, the Express 27 and 37, and many west coast custom racing yachts. This design successfully combines the moderate displacement required for cruising comfort, upwind performance, excellent control, and the speed, strength and seaworthiness to beat rough weather.
"Passion" was built for very knowledgeable owners, who come from an offshore racing background and have many bluewater miles behind them. They were seeking a comfortable offshore cruiser with the performance they were accustomed to - and have not been disappointed. She is a superior yacht that is truly a turn key vessel for the serious off-shore cruiser. She has a Liesurefurl boom that makes the mainsail handling very simple and everything is accomplished from the cockpit. This is a perfect boat for a couple with room for guests when needed.
With circumstances getting in the way, "Passion" has been very lightly cruised since new - her owners enjoying coastal cruising in Southern New England, and have her professionally maintained in her Newport location. She is in excellent condition and can easily be shown as a boatshow "showboat". Every effort has been made to keep her in "as new" condition.
