Alcan is historically renowned for pioneering durable, commercial-grade aluminum vessel construction. Celebrated for exceptional structural integrity, superior corrosion resistance, and lightweight yet incredibly robust hulls, Alcan vessels were the premier choice for demanding government, military, and commercial applications. Built to handle rough waters with ease, these low-maintenance hulls offer a lifetime of structural reliability that fiberglass simply cannot match. "SOTERIA" features a truly unique, one-of-a-kind configuration stemming from a dedicated history of service and thoughtful modern updates. Originally commissioned with an open layout and inboard shaft drives, a comprehensive 1989 refit added the commanding, fully enclosed upper wheelhouse and upgraded the propulsion to twin Volvo Penta diesel stern drives alongside larger diesel tanks. The layout boasts a massive, safe, and versatile aft work deck that transitions seamlessly into a secure, weather-protected pilot house-perfect for navigating diverse waterways in complete comfort. FRESHWATER ONLY - COAST GUARD HERITAGE - TWIN VOLVO PENTA DIESEL ENGINES - ALCAN ALUMINUM HULL - RAYMARINE ELECTRONICS - SOLAR EQUIPPED - CUSTOM RECREATIONAL REFIT - WORK DECK WITH CUSTOM BENCH SEATING - UNIQUE WEEKENDER +++ Originally built for the Department of Fisheries & Oceans (Coast Guard) and based out of Burlington on the Great Lakes, "SOTERIA" carries an exciting local heritage. After serving proudly, she spent years well-preserved by a commercial tour company before being acquired in 2020 by her current owners for a complete recreational transformation. Between 2020 and 2024, the vessel underwent an extensive interior and mechanical refit. The interior was completely modernized with new flooring, marine carpeting, a custom galley with twin AC/DC fridge/freezers, an induction cooktop, and a new head with a macerator toilet. Mechanically, the entire 12V/24V electrical system was updated with BlueSea distribution panels, upgraded AGM batteries, and a Victron solar charging system. Meticulously maintained with annual winterization and oil changes, she also features a new port heat exchanger (2023) and a new starboard lower drive unit (2024).
