Orca Yachts designed their hulls with a kevlar and composite core, which not only provided extra structure, but also made their boats lighter and more efficient. With low-hour (360 Hours) twin 315hp Yanmar diesel engines, this boat cruises at 26 knots and burns just 26 gallons per hour.
"Patriot" features a large cockpit with two in-deck fishboxes, a transom livewell/fishbox, a walk-through tuna door, and mezzanine seating with storage below. The raised helm deck can be enclosed to port and starboard with side curtains, and forward with a glass windshield. There is a helm chair to starboard, as well as wide bench seating to port. This 31 Express can be operated from either the helm deck or from the upper station, which both include single-lever engine controls, Furuno electronics, Raytheon VHF radios, Simrad autopilot, and a full suite of gauges and instruments. The upper station also has a wide seating area, and sits within a large tower with a covered top.
The climate-controlled interior of "Patriot" has everything needed for a long trip, including a galley with an electric cooktop, sink, microwave, and refrigerator, a convertible dinette, a forward v-berth, and a head with a stand-up shower.
