Ocean Alexander 36L: BoatTEST Review
Overview
The Ocean Alexander 112 is a premium luxury yacht designed as an expansive entertainment platform capable of accommodating up to 10 guests comfortably. This vessel emphasizes spaciousness, refined craftsmanship, and versatile social areas both inside and out, making it ideal for large gatherings and extended cruising.
Exterior Design and Entertainment Areas
The yacht's exterior features a teak-covered swim platform extending five feet from the transom, highlighted by the innovative 'transformer' teak beach with a lift capacity of 2,160 pounds, allowing easy launching of tenders or personal watercraft. The aft deck serves as a primary entertainment hub with a C-shaped settee around a pedestal table, complemented by two deck chairs and ample open space. A wet bar equipped with granite countertops, sink, refrigerator, and a TV enhances the social atmosphere. Moving to the boat deck, the space is versatile for lounging or dinghy storage, featuring a 3,000-pound capacity steelhead crane. Removable bimini tops provide shade, while a C-shaped sofa with a teak pedestal table and a wet bar with an electric grill, refrigerator, freezer, and sink offer additional amenities. An upper level accessible via port-side stairs includes a wraparound sofa with two pedestal tables, two sun pads, and a four-person jacuzzi, which can be replaced with an alternative operating station as per owner preference. The yacht also features a Portuguese bridge forward, providing a relaxing vantage point with excellent captain’s visibility.
Interior Living Spaces
Access to the main deck interior is through a large, stainless steel-framed automatic door measuring nearly five by six and a half feet, equipped with safety sensors and a foot switch for convenience. Inside, the Ocean Alexander 112 showcases luxury with expansive windows offering panoramic horizon views from seated positions, and a lofty ceiling height of six feet ten inches. The salon features an L-shaped sofa paired with two freestanding chairs arranged for conversation, with a discreet 60-inch 4K flat screen TV that drops down from the ceiling when needed. The adjacent dining area centers around a finely crafted teak table with intricate inlay, complemented by a buffet area with a stainless steel sink, wine cooler, and refrigerator. A day head is conveniently located nearby. The galley, positioned forward of the dining area and accessible via the side deck to maintain separation from guest spaces, is outfitted with high-end appliances including an ice maker, microwave, trash compactor, double basin stainless steel sink, dishwasher, oven, ceramic cooktop, and a spacious pantry. A striking stainless steel curved staircase leads to the upper deck.
Sky Lounge and Bridge Deck
The Sky Lounge offers a more casual, intimate gathering space that can be fully opened to the outdoors or closed off for privacy. It includes a wet bar with sink, serving area, storage, and ice maker on the starboard side, while the port side houses bottle storage and a wine locker. Seating comprises an L-shaped sofa around a teak table and two freestanding chairs, with a 60-inch flat screen TV mounted on the forward bulkhead. A card table adds to the social options, and a day head is also located on this deck. Access to the bridge deck is available through an additional door, providing further operational and entertainment functionality.
Private Accommodations
The yacht comfortably accommodates 10 guests with five staterooms, including a full-beam master suite located on the main deck. The master stateroom features a centerline king-size berth, an L-shaped settee, electric blinds, and a 48-inch 4K TV that descends from the ceiling. A companionway leads down to an opulent master head with his and her walk-in cedar-lined closets, marble and heated tile flooring, a large skylight, a marble-surrounded shower with seating, a separate water closet with bidet, dual sinks with lighted mirrors, and a whirlpool bath. A conveniently located day head adjacent to the berth addresses nighttime needs. Four additional guest staterooms are situated on the lower deck, consisting of two queen-size aft cabins and two twin berth forward cabins, each with en suite heads featuring walk-in showers, vessel sinks, and ample storage. The guest cabins include amenities such as vanity areas with lighted mirrors, TVs, walk-in closets with cedar-lined drawers, safes, and refrigerators. The joinery throughout the accommodations is of exceptional quality, with integrated air conditioning vents and meticulous attention to detail.
Conclusion
The Ocean Alexander 112 exemplifies a yacht designed for grand-scale entertaining and luxurious living. Its thoughtfully arranged exterior and interior spaces provide versatility and comfort for both socializing and private relaxation. Superior craftsmanship, innovative features, and comprehensive guest accommodations make this vessel a distinguished choice for discerning owners seeking a premium yachting experience.
