30 ft 1972 Newport 30 Mark II masthead sloop in extremely good condition, New Beta Marine diesel (under 60 hours), beautifully painted and for sale in New Haven CT.
The Newport 30, or N30, was designed by marine engineer Gary Mull. Manufactured by Capital Yachts in Harbor City, California as the Newport 30 Mark II or Phase II, It is part of a family of Newport Sailboats. A remarkable feature of the Newport 30 is its construction. It pioneered the style of build that would later revolutionize the industry leading to boats like the Catalina 27, 30 and others that would keep ownership costs down and provide a relatively inexpensive and trouble free ownership experience.
This Newport 30 has had the foredeck and side decks professionally re-cored so there are no worries about deck delamination here. Awlgripped with blue topsides, this is a striking boat in excellent condition. On deck is a conventional set up with a wheel helm and halyards on the deck. The hood roller furling gear keeps you off the foredeck. The anchor is sensibly set up with a Lewmar windlass. The cockpit is spacious with a wheel helm.
Most interesting is the repower with a Beta Marine BD722EPA marine diesel with less than 60 hours on the clock. Again, no worries with this engine.
Below this boat is configured with a dinette to port which slips down to a double berth. To starboard is a single bench berth, or additional cabin seating. Aft to starboard is a pilot berth while to port is the galley area with a propane cooker and oven. The head is amidships to port and boasts a marine head and sink and shower.
