To all of our Blue Water friends, single handed or couples, PAPA is a great blue water cruising yacht to fulfill your dreams. She is very well equipped for cruising. This is a bluewater sailing yacht that has been constantly upgraded and is ready to cruise. Owners plans have changed and Papa is in search of new owners who will give her the TLC she deserves.Ã?Â
New she was delivered to Michigan where she spent the majority of her life in the fresh water of the great lakes, during a 3 to 4 month summer period. The rest of the year she was stored on the hard and preserved by cold weather. The second owner was an airline pilot who brought her down from Michigan to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is one of the last of five built.� Designer, Peter Coleâ��s designs are known to be well founded and fast. His ability to think outside the box is legendary. Safety and speed are known to be his hallmarks. Functionality and fun also played a large part in his designs. Unique to the Nantucket Island is the lead filled FRP keel. There are no keel bolts that can corrode, nor is there any possibility for the keel to dislodge and fall off in grounding. Nantucket islands are built in two halves and are bonded together. There is 8800lbs of ballast which fills the void in the keel which is then glassed over. If the keel strikes and underwater object and is holed, it is sealed so that no sea water can leak into the bilge.
The flush deck is solid fiberglass with no wood core to rot out.� Nantucket islands are designed to withstand the rigors of a life at sea and hold up to the ravages of time. Nantucket Island yachts are hand laid FRP and are very strong. The hull thickness ranges from 1 inch to �¾â��. Deck thickness ranges from �¾â�� to �½â��. The build quality equates to an extremely strong offshore bluewater cruising sailboat which will take you anywhere safely with class and comfort.
