Introducing Consensus, the 2000 Moody 42 Center Cockpit. This exceptional Moody 42 is on the market for only the second time after two exemplary owners have cared for her and upgraded her since new. True yacht care by exceptional owners.
Built in Plymouth, UK at a time when mass-production short cuts were the norm, the Moody 42 was hand laid with solid fiberglass below the waterline and cored glass above the waterline to reduce weight. Following handover, Consensus spent ten years in the Great Lakes before coming to Rhode Island. Since then she has shared time between Narragansett Bay and Chesapeake Bay, most recently staying in Rhode Island year round. Her first owner built her with Moody and cared for her to a level rarely seen in other Moody 42s and her current owners have continued that care with a boat manager handling repairs and upgrades.
The deck configuration allows for capable short handed blue water cruising while the shoal draft and interior provides an accommodation plan suitable for coast cruising with families or guests. The saloon is large and inviting with classic English craftsmanship. The forward facing nav station to port allows easy communication to the cockpit.
The galley is to starboard in the walk-through going aft.
A palatial aft primary cabin provides privacy and luxury. The primary head is in the starboard walk through and includes a stall shower.
The Passage Cabin in the port walk-through is a "bonus room" providing a perfect sea berth with a unique expandable full-length berth, a kids cabin, or a storage / work space which is adjacent to the large engine room access doors.
Forward is a secondary head and a V-berth cabin for guests.
The transom is an incredibly practical sugar scoop with steps leading to the boarding platform / swim step. Flip down five-step swim ladder with grab handle allows easy reboarding after a swim.
Consensus is a shining example of the classic and revered Moody 42 center cockpit.
