Overview

The Sovereign Boat Club seeks boats that meet five key criteria for inclusion in its shared access program: a trusted brand, excellent warranty, compliance with ABYC safety standards, required features such as an electric flush head and hard top, and good value pricing. Monterey, with decades of manufacturing experience, fits these requirements well, offering reliable boats backed by solid warranties and ABYC-compliant construction.

Interior Features and Head Compartment

The head compartment on the Monterey Elite 27 is designed with comfort and functionality in mind. Although the entryway is somewhat short, the space inside provides ample width, generous headroom, and sufficient elbow room. The sink is cleverly stored underneath, and ventilation is accessible behind the dash. This layout ensures ease of use and comfort for occupants.

Seating and Helm Layout

One distinctive feature of the Elite 27 is the bow seating arrangement, which includes stationary seat backs facing forward. Unlike many boats where seat backs fold or swing, these remain rigid and fixed, enhancing stability and comfort. The helm features side-by-side captain seats separated by a center console housing controls such as trim tabs and throttles. An induction charger and a Simrad screen provide easy access to navigation and electronic controls. Both seats are bolstered and can be raised for improved visibility, allowing the operator to drive comfortably and intuitively, reminiscent of driving a sporty car.

Exterior and Deck Features

The boat is equipped with a robust aluminum hard top finished in a textured powder coat, which provides durability and a refined appearance. The hard top includes a tow hook for water toys, enhancing recreational versatility. The swim platform features boarding ladders on both the port and starboard sides, a convenience not commonly found on similar boats. The aft lounge is adaptable, convertible into multiple configurations to suit different social settings.

The Monterey Elite 27 is the smaller counterpart to the award-winning Elite 30, sharing many of its acclaimed features and sporty handling characteristics. Its plumb bow and substantial dead rise contribute to a smooth and engaging ride, making it a fun boat to drive.
