Here is one of those older boats that simply stands apart from the average example on the market. This 2005 Monterey Montura 228Si is a clean, one-owner Lake Lanier boat showing just 129 original hours, powered by the upgraded Volvo Penta 5.7 Gi V8 (280 hp) paired with the DuoProp drive. The boat has spent its life here on Lake Lanier and came from an owner who knows boats. The family owns a marine dealership in Pennsylvania, and this one has been cared for accordingly: kept clean and dry, maintained annually, and not allowed to deteriorate from neglect. At 21 years old, condition and ownership history matter tremendously, and this boat tells a very good story.

The 5.7 GXi/DuoProp combination is a major highlight. Monterey offered the 228Si with several power packages, and the larger Volvo V8 is an excellent match for this hull. It provides plenty of power for a full crew and watersports, while the counter-rotating DuoProps provide excellent bite, acceleration, handling and low-speed maneuverability.

Cosmetically, she presents extremely well for the year. The blue hull sides retain a deep shine, the cockpit and bow upholstery remain clean and attractive, and the helm, gauges, hardware and interior surfaces all reflect a boat that has spent considerably more time protected than sitting exposed to the elements. The 228Si itself is a great all-around family runabout. Monterey gave the Montura series a more upscale finish than many entry-level sport boats of the period, with generous seating, good storage, an integrated swim platform and a layout equally comfortable for cruising, swimming, skiing or spending an afternoon anchored in a cove.
