This one-owner turnkey 2006 - 2007 model has had a full-time salaried captain since day one. Meticulously maintained and used consistently; it is reliable due to a lifetime of care. Also incredible is the condition of the boat based on the years of memories that have been made on board. The owners fish for fun but are seriously good at it while taking in 25trophies from local tournaments. This boat is "set up" for winning. It touts the larger version Cummins set that Mikelson puts out with the QSC 8.3 450HP's. No Zeus, no Joystick, she's got split sticks, which is once again - the popular choice. This keeps her simple, clean, in the water with lower maintenance costs. It's got dualling bait tanks, and a secondary Nav system by Time Zero. Above the fly is the factory tuna tower with the third set of steering controls. Ondeck is an 800 lb dingy crane for the Apex dinghy being pushed around by a practically new 40hp Yamaha outboard. Off the sides are Lee 26' double spreader outriggers, 12 rocket launcher rod holders off the flybridge, new Eisenglass all around, 2 heads, full galley, sleeps 5 and so much more.
Family fun Flybridge design with Mikelson's famous circular settee for poker night, board games, or just a relaxing cocktail gathering at sunset. Supersized frig/freezer in the galley with an extra freezer in lower storage, a handy frig in the fly, and a commercial ice machine in the salon. The catch of the day and the drinks will be kept cold! This vessel gives you everything you need to go hang out on a mooring at Catalina for a week, run out for a fun casual day on the water, or head to Santa Barbara for a get-a-way of hiking and wine tasting. But when it's time to go fishing, bottom line; she'll be your best friend.
Something else you don't see a bunch on the M43SP is the upgrade of the invaluable helm station in the aft flybridge lending incredible "stern in" docking ease. Another reason to have it is that you look down into the cockpit and can communicate directly with your guests on board on the way out to Catalina or work with them when they've got a big one on the hook so you can easily manage a chase in reverse to gain some line. This extra helm station truly keeps the skipper connected to everyone on board which is such a benefit and makes the boat that much more enjoyable for everyone.

About Mikelson 43 Sportfisherman, by Marlin Magazine 2001 ~ Mikelson Yachts of San Diego, California, is best known for its line of luxury long-range sport-fishermen, ranging from 50 to 78 feet in length. A new addition to that line, the 43 Sportfisher, is designed to bring the same spacious interiors, efficient performance, and seagoing capability to a smaller, entry-level boat.
All Mikelsons (including the 43) are built with engines placed aft, under the cockpit. This offers several benefits. The engines are easy to access, exhaust length is minimized, machinery noise and odor are kept away from the living areas, and fuel can be stored around the center of buoyancy for minimum trim adjustments from full to empty tank conditions. The fact that the engines are not under the salon also translates into a much lower salon sole, which renders the boat more stable and results in less windage.
The 43’s hull shape is fairly unique, even among other Mikelsons, and features three chines. The lowest chine is designed to catch the spray and deflect it, and the main chine runs the length of the hull and provides lifting surfaces aft, allowing the hull to break clean and rise forward to provide a very high deadrise. The third or upper chine is a deep step in the hull providing increased interior space, improved stability and wave deflection forward. The transom aft has a pronounced inverted bell shape that allows lower placement of the engines and provides lift outboard of the chine.
Foam-core fiberglass is used throughout the boat except for the bottom, which is solid fiberglass. This means a strong boat that weighs little more than many boats built with a cored hull.
The 43’s layout features a cockpit that is roughly 9 feet long by 12 feet wide, a huge salon (she features one of the widest beams in her class), and two staterooms with one head below. The flybridge incorporates Mikelson’s trademark circular settee, though a tournament bridge is also available. Interior finishes are available in ash, cherry, and teak. A huge space under the salon contains batteries, water heater, freezers, pumps, and copious storage areas.
