1998 Maxum 4100 SCA
Knot Complaining is a great example of the popular Maxum 4100 SCA. The owners had plans for the Great Loop, but family plans change and she is up for sale. They have updated and improved numerous systems on board, and she is ready for new owners. If you are looking for an affordable boat for a weekend condo or coastal cruising, you need to come see Knot Complaining in beautiful and convenient Charleston, SC.
The Maxum 4100 SCA is a yacht with sweeping curves, a soaring presence, and plenty of space for relaxing and entertaining. A snap-in sun pad with headrests on the forward deck creates a sprawling sun lounge, and the hard top covered aft deck offers space for entertaining in the breeze. A four-person bench seat treats guests to the captain's view protected by an aluminum framed venturi windscreen. Molded fiberglass stairs and stainless railing provide easy and safe access to the flybridge. The helm offers full instrumentation, a Danforth compass, top-mount dual engine controls, and an adjustable bench seat. The grand salon of the Maxum 4100 SCA is filled with rich appointments and practical amenities. The gourmet galley features double stainless steel sinks, a microwave - convection oven, and a built-in coffeemaker. Queen-sized berths and complete heads with showers grace both the owner's stateroom and guest quarters. The aft cabin features a queen-size island berth, with two drawers, stowage under, and illuminated hanging lockers. The forward stateroom has over head and reading lights, storage shelves, an illuminated locker, and an entertainment niche.
The Maxum 4100 SCA was considered a lot of boat for the money when she came out in 1997. Construction is solid fiberglass, and with a published weight of just 30,000 pounds, the 4100 SCA is a relatively light boat for her size. The two-stateroom interior of the Maxum 4100 is arranged with the galley down and a midlevel dinette forward of the salon. Walkaround queen berths are found in the both staterooms, and the forward head has a circular shower stall while the head and shower units in the aft stateroom are separate. On deck, molded steps lead from the aft deck down to the swim platform, and the flybridge has guest seating forward of the helm along with a wet bar and a triple helm seat. Additional features include cherry interior trim, wide side decks, and an aft-deck hardtop with wing doors. On the downside, the engine room is a tight fit. A modest performer with standard 400hp gas engines (15–16 knots cruise), optional 370hp Cummins diesels cruise at 20 knots and reach a top speed of around 22 knots. Note the modest fuel capacity.

Cons
Age: Being a 1998 model, potential buyers should consider that some systems may need updates or repairs. Parts availability could also be a concern as the vessel ages.

Maintenance Requirements: Older boats may require more consistent maintenance and repairs, which can add to the overall cost of ownership.
Limited Technology: Compared to newer models, the technology and amenities might feel outdated. Navigation and entertainment systems may lack the modern features that many newer vessels possess.
