The 1946 Matthews 38 DeLuxe Sedan was designed as a comfortable postwar family cruiser, blending craftsmanship with practical liveaboard capability. POOKA has been under cover and cared for by the same family since 1972. Well maintained and loved by two generations, it is time for POOKA to find her next steward. Low maintenance painted surfaces throughout make this the perfect boat for the DIYer who is interested in the wooden boat world but concerned about the keeping up with the varnish. Reliable Detroit Diesel motors (repowered) will push POOKA at a respectable 10 knot cruising speed. The fully enclosed aft deck will provide additional protection from the elements while the sun-worshipping can lounge on the large flybridge. There is an active Matthews Owners Group of like-minded souls.
POOKA has two main levels keeping the stairs to a minimum. The enclosed aft deck and main salon are the first level you enter with great visibility through the large windows. The couch in the main salon also converts to a double bed. Three steps takes you down to the lower level containing U-shaped galley with lots of counter space, spacious head/shower compartment, main double berth and finally double bunks forward. An ingenious ladder allows access to the large flybridge.
