Overview
The Maritima M55 is the newest model in the M-series flybridge motor yacht range, scheduled for release in early 2021. This narrative is based on a full-scale mock-up developed by Maritima's design and new product development division, offering an exclusive preview of the yacht's innovative features and layout.
Exterior Design and Deck Areas
Upon boarding, the M55 welcomes guests with an expansive adventure deck, featuring an optional extended platform that can be either fixed or hydraulic. A notable design element is the large storage compartment beneath this area, which is fully lined and capable of storing a three-metre tender. This space includes a 250-kilo davit for launching and retrieving the tender. Moving forward, the upper cockpit deck can be transformed into an alfresco entertaining area, equipped with a starboard L-shaped lounge and a port bench lounge. The headliner extends far back to provide maximum coverage, and integrated recesses conceal roll-down clears to protect the area from inclement weather. The foredeck is designed with safety and versatility in mind, featuring high bulwarks and rails for secure footing, and options for either a sun pad or a 3.6-metre tender. Dual anchor hatches provide separate storage and access, and three deck hatches offer light and ventilation to the forward cabins. A distinctive feature is the flybridge wing overhang, which enhances the motor yacht aesthetic and increases flybridge space. The signature Maritima walk-around side decks ensure secure access to the bow, suitable for all passengers including children and pets.
Interior Living Spaces
The M55 incorporates an aft galley design, centralizing the galley between the cockpit and salon lounging areas to facilitate social interaction. The galley is spacious with ample storage, supporting long-range cruising needs. A unique design element is the use of blacked-out glass wrapping around the galley area, including the splashback, and orienting the internal staircase from front to back. The salon features a large U-shaped dinette to starboard and an L-shaped lounge to port, with optional vista sliding windows on both sides that open up to 1.5 metres, enhancing natural light and outdoor connection. The salon also includes a 50-inch pop-up TV located behind the port lounge, viewable from multiple seating areas.
Private Accommodations
The starboard guest stateroom offers flexible sleeping arrangements with twin single beds and a hull window, ample overhead space, a full-height hanging locker with a full-length mirror, a deck hatch for ventilation, and an optional 32-inch TV. The forward VIP stateroom features an offset queen bed arrangement that maximizes floor space and ease of access. It includes a full-height hanging locker, an optional 43-inch TV, and direct access to the VIP en suite. The VIP en suite doubles as a day head with access from both the companionway and the VIP stateroom. It is equipped with a large shower, expansive vanity, generous headroom, and a deck hatch for light and ventilation. The full-beam master stateroom is spacious, with a king-size bed, extensive storage including drawers and hanging lockers, large hull windows with opening ports for ventilation, and an optional 43-inch TV. The master also has a dedicated en suite bathroom.
Flybridge and Upper Deck
The M55 continues Maritima’s tradition of fully enclosed flybridges, but with enhancements that provide two distinct lounging areas due to the beam and wing overhang design. The internal staircase orientation from front to back facilitates this layout. The forward flybridge area serves as a cruising lounge facing forward adjacent to the helm, while the aft lounge integrates seamlessly with the back deck and includes a TV area. The aft flybridge deck is notably spacious, featuring fully collapsible bi-fold doors that stack to starboard, allowing the space to open fully or be enclosed. The hardtop extends to the rail, with recesses designed to accommodate roll-down clears for weather protection. Optional seating arrangements further enhance the versatility and comfort of this upper deck space.
