Shambhala, a classically handsome sailing yacht, is currently offered for sale. Her finely rounded hull and classic hourglass stern have been admired in many anchorages and marinas in US and foreign ports. Her stunning design is reminiscent of a classic Herreshoff or latter day Cherubini 44 with hull and cabin sides so fair she is often mistaken for a fiberglass boat. This timeless beauty, combined with the strength and safety of her steel hull and deck make her the perfect long distance voyager. Her traditional interior with bright finishes and traditional woods give the feeling of comfort of home.
The simple staysail ketch rig makes Shambhala easily handled by a small crew and allows many efficient sail plan choices. Her performance under sail is comparable to more lightly constructed vessels while providing the safety, comfort, and peace of mind of solid steel construction.
The low pilothouse enhances her beauty and provides a second steering station and complete shelter from inclement weather. Navigation and watch keeping are easily accomplished from this protected central control center. Engage either the Aries wind vane steering or the integrated autopilot and the crew can remain comfortable and safe at sea.
Both headsails are rigged with roller furling for maximum control and ease of handling. The staysail is rigged with a code 0 furler so that it may be removed for short tacking with the large genoa. Twin downwind headsails and a cruising spinnaker are also included to cover all sailing options. Both mainsail and mizzen are rigged with stackpack furling, multiple reef points, and Antal sail tracks for ease of raising, lowering, and reefing sails. A total of seventeen stainless steel Andersen winches are strategically placed to enhance the sailing experience.
The lovely interior includes two separate heads, one with an enclosed stand-up shower. A large king-sized V-Berth is forward with a pull-out double berth in the main salon and a comfortable pilot berth in the pilothouse. The efficient galley includes a two burner all stainless propane stove with oven and broiler and a stainless steel double sink. A well-insulated top loading refrigerator and freezer and a very large pantry for dry goods makes provisioning for long journeys a simple matter.
Her current very experienced owners have spared no expense in caring for this remarkable vessel and adding modern equipment and upgrades. This is a truly seaworthy boat that will take you to the ports of your dreams.
