The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1995 Little Harbor Express 40 is a classic passagemaker that combines traditional craftsmanship with practical cruising features. Here are some of the key pros and cons of this model:

Pros

Solid Construction: Built with a strong fiberglass hull and traditional design, the Express 40 offers durability and a reliable offshore capability.

Comfortable Interior: The boat features a well-appointed interior with ample headroom, quality wood finishes, and a layout designed for comfortable living aboard.

Efficient Sailing: With a cutter rig and moderate sail plan, the Express 40 is easy to handle and performs well in a variety of wind conditions.

Good Load-Carrying Ability: Its full keel and moderate displacement allow for carrying supplies and equipment for extended cruising.

Traditional Aesthetics: The classic lines and elegant design appeal to sailors who appreciate timeless style.

Cons

Moderate Speed: The design prioritizes comfort and seaworthiness over speed, so it may not be as fast or agile as more modern or lighter performance cruisers.

Maintenance Requirements: The traditional woodwork and older systems may require more upkeep compared to newer production boats.

Limited Modern Amenities: Being a 1995 model, some onboard systems and conveniences might feel dated without updates or refits.

Draft Considerations: The full keel design typically results in a deeper draft, which may limit access to some shallow cruising grounds.
