The Grand Sturdy represents the ultimate in Linssen Yachts classic design. Linssen Yachts has been building these Dutch quality full displacement yachts for 75 years and builds more steel yachts than any builder in the world. The
De Vries Lentsch design is attractively modern, strong, tough and with an individual functionality. The Grand Sturdy Line is equipped with ultra-effective sound-absorbing and an anti-rumble package researched and developed from the famous Noise & Vibration Bureau.
The boat is a strong vessel classified under Category B for navigating in seas of possible wind strengths up to Beaufort Scale 8 and possible wave heights of 13 feet. The steel hull is 1/2" with a full keel, recessed prop, and skeg protected rudder. Range is 720 nautical miles at cruising speed at 3 gph fuel consumption.
Since 2010 this yacht has been meticulously maintained by the current owner and stored each winter inside a heated facility. As part of his due diligence, prior to purchasing the vessel, the current owner spent 3 days inspecting the manufacturing process of the Linssen production facility at the Maasbracht yard in the Netherlands and came to the following conclusions: -The Dutch workmanship is equal to or superior than German workmanship. -With the historical relationship that the Dutch have had with shipping and exploring the North Sea, the Linssen family have lived up to the task of manufacturing a vessel that will conquer the harshest sea conditions. -100% of the vessel is manufactured in the Netherlands. Halve Maen (half moon) spent the last 15 years of her cruising life in fresh water and has done light cruising of Lake Champlain, the Richelieu and Hudson Rivers. The majority of parts and components for the vessel may be purchased in the US and speciality items can be purchased at " Boat Equipment NL" which the premium supplier of Linssen parts. You may be rest assured that any concerns related to rust on this steel boat can be addressed by the fact that after 22 years of cruising salt and fresh water alike, there is virtually not one spot of rust to be found on the interior or exterior of this vessel. The fit and finish must be seen to be believed.
